Research Fisheries Biologists at the US Geological Survey meet with Ph.D Students and Research and Development Engineers at a local Alpena brewery to talk about their findings after many series of tests on the Great Lakes.

The overall project goal is to develop a proof of concept that autonomous underwater vehicles can conduct image surveys. This image data would then be post-processed with various neural networks to detect and record the numbers of fish and mussels of certain species. This system would then be used to determine the populations of these species across the great lakes.

With plans to invest R$1.2 billion to build 80 new units, Walmart Brazil found a way to help women and, at the same time, address the lack of skilled labor in the civil construction industry. Walmart Brazil has committed to hiring women for construction projects who are graduates of “Women Building Autonomy,” a program developed by the city of Sao Bernardo do Campo Department of Policies for Women and the federal government. The first construction site under this new program is a Sam’s Club in Sao Paulo. Of the 200 bricklayer positions for this project, more than 50 have already been filled by women workers.

Macau, also spelled Macao, is, along with Hong Kong, one of the two special administrative regions of the People's Republic of China. It lies on the western side of the Pearl River Delta, bordering Guangdong province to the north and facing the South China Sea to the east and south.

The territory's economy is heavily dependent on gambling and tourism but also includes manufacturing.

Macau was a Portuguese colony and both the first and last European colony in China. Portuguese traders first settled in Macau in the 16th century and subsequently administered the region until the handover on 20 December 1999. The Sino-Portuguese Joint Declaration and the Basic Law of Macau stipulate that Macau operates with a high degree of autonomy until at least 2049, fifty years after the transfer.

Under the policy of "one country, two systems", the PRC's Central People's Government is responsible for the territory's defense and foreign affairs, while Macau maintains its own legal system, police force, monetary system, customs policy, and immigration policy. Macau participates in many international organizations and events that do not require members to possess national sovereignty. According to the CIA factbook, Macau has the highest life expectancy in the world.

Seen in Barcelona, Spain.

Catalonia is an autonomous community of Spain, designated as a nationality by its Statute of Autonomy. Most of the territory lies on the northeast of the Iberian Peninsula, to the south of the Pyrenees mountain range.

Since the 2010s, there has been growing support for Catalan independence. In 2017 the Catalan Parliament unilaterally declared independence following a disputed referendum. The Spanish Senate voted in favor of enforcing direct rule by removing the Catalan government and calling a snap regional election. The Spanish Supreme Court imprisoned seven former ministers of the Catalan government on charges of rebellion and misuse of public funds, while several others—including then-President Carles Puigdemont—fled to other European countries. Those in prison were later pardoned by the Spanish government in 2021.

Rally June 24 demanding abortion rights, trans rights, and bodily autonomy for all by opposing the anti-abortion “march for life” on the one-year anniversary of the Dobbs decision.

The rally and speakout started at Franklin Square (200 N. 6th St) and then marched to defend patients accessing health care at a nearby abortion provider under threat of anti-abortion fascists.

In the current legislative session, anti-trans and anti-LGBTQ+ bills have been proposed or are advancing in nearly every state. These bills contain measures from bans on gender affirming care to censorship laws prohibiting discussions in schools about LGBTQ+ people. On June 6, the Human Rights Campaign declared a national state of emergency for LGBTQ+ individuals.

Since the Dobbs decision one year ago, fourteen states have implemented complete abortion bans, and several other states have attempted or are still attempting to implement bans. The criminalization of abortion and gender affirming care are attacks on our bodily autonomy and our ability to access necessary health care.

We MUST fight back against these attacks on human rights and the complacency that allows them to continue and escalate.

Autonomous vehicles create the opportunity to redefine the relationship between pedestrians and vehicles in the city of the future. While infrastructure exists to balance the power between pedestrians and vehicles, much of the current infrastructure is built around the needs of the vehicle. Besides the potential of autonomous vehicles to cause far less accidents and fatalities in the urban environment, their arrival also provides an opportunity to rebalance the power dynamics and give pedestrians an equal weighting in the conversation between pedestrians and vehicles on the road.
