Praying the Angels of Water Pure Again
praying
the angels of water
pure again
we drink
this tomorrow
as possible as
heaven
walking near
the once
pristine shore
we step lightly
upon the living
yes breathing
earth
when their
oil tortures
the cormorant
slow til death
it tortures
each of us
the sound of oil
soaked feathers
deafens
but
they speak
so eloquently
their need
to profit
yet a single
creature
capable of flight
might
define
prosperity
did you see
the photograph of the
child's hands
black with oil?
how
the bird
died
we
we should
be the fix
the earth
people
praying
the angels of water
pure again
we drink
