The eagle was originally a feature on the Spread Eagle Hotel, on Corporation Street, Manchester. After the hotel was demolished in 1902, the eagle effigy was mounted on this gate.

iamakittehcouch: @minkxxx hah! Thanks. Hope you're feelin better?

minkxxx: Waiting....... for a giant needle in the base of my spine. I think that's what the proposal is. The nerve swelling won't go down, de-swell, stop whatever it's doing. I would never agree to such an invasive procedure in my spine unless I was in a wheelchair. My GP said,"oh, you're well on you're way". He's a pig, mind you. My Physio, who I trust says that a cortisone injection in the epidural space will flood all the nerves involved (apparently it's not just my sciatic nerve) , and the effect will put us about three months ahead in terms of recovery. That sounds great. I've had one in my knee before but I think having it in the spine is a bit more painful. So it's all "jolly-hockey-sticks" down under. Sorry to go on. It's such agony and so debilitating it rules everything. Not that my mouth hasn't gotten me into any trouble before. So I play IG when I can. I almost had the "beautiful train boy" image finished, when the app crashed. I've found some of the files I was using. I still have three of your images on the go! I hope you don't mind me continuing to edit them. I love them but it's so hard to edit some else's work when they've edited them beautifully already! I'm having to go the artsy fartsy way with them. I do like artsy fartsy though. I hope you and the kittehs' are well!! XX mink on a break??!

iamakittehcouch: Oh dear, what does one say to wish luck...break your back? I do pray everything goes well for you & hope this injection brings a speedy recovery. Just do take it easy. We love your presence here. Of course I don't mind you working on those edits! I very much look forward to seeing your spectacular touch on them. Don't feel pressured tho

iamakittehcouch: @minkxxx Oopsies!

minkxxx: Got it. This is my break from IG & I keep responding to all & sundry! Although I will always respond to you - ok!!! XXXX munk

minkxxx: I am trying to take the small reprieves to work on images but the the hungry hoard feels like it's looking at me with sad puppy dog eyes - so I respond. Oh poor, poor pitiful me!!! Soon I'll have a ring of fire though! XX mink

It was my brother's stag do, and a group of us went to Buxton, including an afternoon at Go Ape, which was kind of an obstacle course in the treetops.

Here is one of our group flying down the zip wire, which was great fun and my favourite part.

It has been very difficult to choose between this and the one below for the 365 picture of the day.

I went for this one because I like the textures on the rolled over pancake, though I do like the brightness of the jam on the other shot.

I'm interested to hear which one others might prefer.

A trial of an iPhone 4 two-shot HDR. I took two photos each with a different focal point via the iPhone touch interface. Selecting a focal point auto-adjusts the exposure based on the selected focal point. I bracketed the shots by selecting a hot point on one shot and a cold point on the other. Photomatix was used on the HDR. The camera was handheld in an unlit building.
