I received the LA LE Jasmine and Aladdin set today, Friday June 14, 2019. I bought it from Disney Store UK when it was released on May 28, 2019, and saved over $300 versus getting if from the US site. It was shipped double boxed, and was delivered by USPS. The outer box was damaged, and the packing tape loose on top, but the inner box was in perfect shape, as was the doll box and the dolls themselves. The carton was #161 of 505, and the Certificate of Authenticity was #376 of 750. The set depicts Jasmine and Aladding in their wedding outfits from the movie. I am very impressed by the level of detail in the outfits and jewelry. Jasmine is very beautiful and looks good from any angle. Aladdin looks better in person than from the stock photos, but his hair is a little messy, and he looks better from the side than from the front.

After deboxing I discovered that neither doll has the edition number or size stamped on their backs. Aladdin has three layers of clothing: outer coat, inner coat, and shirt with pants. All are separate items, but I left the inner coat tacked to the outer coat. The lower part of his outer coat is in four panels. The two panels in the back are more than floor length, so form a coat tail. He can free stand, but isn't all that stable posed that way. So for all but one photo of him standing, I had him supported by the included display stand. Jasmine has three layers of clothing, too. Outer skirt, inner skirt and pants with top. Her skirts are longer in the back, and are more than floor length.

Meine erste Foto-Einzelausstellung präsentiert im Café Berio, Berlin

Vernissage 31. Juli 2018 | Finissage 22. September 2018

My first solo photo exhibition presented at Café Berio, Berlin

Opening July 31, 2018 | Closing September 22, 2018

In my first solo photo exhibition, I showed my Berlin portraits and some of my bird photographs; hence the title of the exhibition. In my photo project, I wanted to get away from the usual deliberately chosen locations for a photo shoot. There is usually something very impersonal about a studio or a selected location for people. I wanted to go where it is most authentic; to the places where the protagonists (mostly artists) are at home and in their element: on stage, backstage and before, during and after a performance or event. I want to show the viewer images that they don't necessarily see during an event and capture outsiders as if they had witnessed it live.

I presented over 70 works in the exhibition, including portraits of Romy Haag, Henry de Winter, Hanna Schygulla, Georgette Dee, Dieter Rita Scholl, Gloria Viagra, Ades Zabel, Frank Wilde, Gaby Tupper and many others.

Birds live on every continent. They are elusive, shy animals. In my photographs, however, they allow an improbable closeness. I have captured what is actually alien and invisible in nature in my bird portraits.

My motto: "Authenticity is the keyword that lies behind my photography. I prefer to show more the human touch and less the retouch."

Most of the exhibits were created in the queer community.

LE Briar Rose with all the box covers removed. She is attached to the free standing backing cardboard.

I purchased the Aurora Limited Edition doll on her release day, Saturday March 16, 2019, from my local Disney Store. They had 16 dolls, and only about half sold at store opening. My doll's edition number is #1269 of 4500, exactly 1000 more than that of my Aurora and Phillip wedding doll set. She commemorates the 60th anniversary of Disney's Sleeping Beauty.

She is dressed as Briar Rose, and has a forest scene in the background art of the box. She has a little owl in one hand and a basket in the other. Her golden blonde hair has her signature curl in front of her front bangs, and waist length hair with curls at the ends. She has violet eyes glancing to her right and coral lips in a open mouthed smile. She has long curvy eyelashes. She has a pink shawl around her shoulders and arms. It has a brocade pattern on one side and gold embroidery on the other, and gold tassels at the ends. I untacked the ends from her skirt, but left them tacked to the sleeves of her blouse to prevent the shawl from falling off. She has a black satin bodice with fake laces in front of gold embroidery in the center panel. Her blouse is actually part of her bodice, and has sleeves down to her elbows, with flared ends tied with golden strings. Her skirt is made of dark magenta satin that is pleated in the front and is asymmetrical. Under that there are two layers of pink tulle and one layer of white tulle, and then a layer of light pink tulle with a lace border. These under skirts are sewn in the back to the outer skirt. Finally there is a half length stiff tulle petticoat. The lower lace underskirt is floor length in the back, but is higher and is slanted in the front, revealing her legs and feet. She has fixed angle feet with no ankle joints. She is wearing black flats with a small bow decoration in front, and a black satin bow around her ankles. She has dark magenta painted on panties, that match the color of her outer skirt.

Although her outfit's colors aren't film accurate, it is very pretty and well made. Her face is gorgeous, and although her lips are coral rather than red, at least they aren't the pink color of previous LE Aurora dolls. I like the doll very much. She is also a very good match for the Rags Snow White LE doll from 2017.

There are now a total of eight Aurora Limited Edition 17 inch dolls released by Disney. That includes the pink and blue Disney Store dolls (2014), the pink and blue Harrods dolls (2014), the blue and pink Disney Parks dolls (2015 and 2018), Disney Store Briar Rose (2019) and Disney Store Wedding Aurora (2019). That is two more than the number of Snow White, Elsa and Anna dolls. There is also speculation that there will be a Saks Aurora doll released late this year.

I just received the #009 of 6000 DFDC Snow White and the Prince Doll Set (2013), from a Facebook group. It has the second lowest number of any of my LE dolls, next to my #0004 of 4000 Designer Fairy Zarina, which I got first hand when she was released. I wanted to get it not just because it was a very low number, but also as sort of a consolation for the fact that my pre-ordered DFDC set was all #12 of 6000, except for Snow White and the Prince, which was #4508.

~TITLE OF SCULPTURE~

GRUMPY GREEN GRANDPA HOUSE

APPROXIMATE SIZE: 22.5 x 20 x 16.5 INCHES.

Media: Acrylics On Altered Cardboard.

* This Piece Is Signed & Dated For Authenticity.

Created in 2015.

*The inside of the house contains three rooms and is fully graffiti-ed with a realistic interior including paintings, appliances and furniture.

The outer cardboard sleeve is slid off, revealing the dolls inside of an clear acrylic display case, with a gold and black base, and golden nameplate. At the back of the case the Certificate of Authenticity is visible. Then the acrylic case is opened up by gently rocking the top from side to side until it is loosened from the base, then slowly sliding it off along the cardboard backing. The dolls are now in clear view. They are attached to the backing and plastic spacers by rubber bands, wires, and plastic tabs.

Snow White has a little blemish on her right cheek near her nose, that appears to be a stray bit of hair gel. I will wash it off tomorrow, using some alcohol and cotton swab. There was also a few stray hairs coming from her braided hair, that I tidied up using the end of a rat tail comb. Also her bodice is slightly off center, I will also fix that tomorrow after I fully debox her.

The sun was very low in the sky, and behind a building, so I had to use flash for most of these photos.

Snow White and the Prince - Limited Edition Doll Set

Disney Fairytale Designer Collection

$129.95 US

US Disney Store

Released and purchased in store on August 20, 2013.

First Look

There were 18 Snow White doll sets at the store, and only about a dozen people who entered the raffle for the chance to buy them. So from the get go, I knew I was sure to leave with the dolls. There was one lady in the group that I remembered from the Designer Villain raffles, and we caught up on how our doll collections were growing. Also another person waiting for the dolls said she actually got the Designer Pin Set in her cart, and purchased them, but got an ''I'm sorry'' email later saying that the item was sold out, and they were refunding her money.

At about 1:07 pm, they called out 5 names at a time to purchase the dolls. My name was actually called out first. Then we were marched into the store to buy the dolls. The store only had the Snow White dolls set on display behind the counter, and none of the other dolls on display at all. The main Fairytale Designer Collection display was unchanged, except that the Ariel mugs were now sold out. So I decided not to take any photos inside the store, since there was no real changes, and I couldn't take any closeups of the Snow White set on display.

Just after purchasing the dolls, I set them down at a table outside the Disney Store. Then I took a peek at the dolls to make sure there were no defects, before leaving with them. I first took the box out of the Designer Fairytale Gift Bag. Then I took the sleeve off the box, to reveal the dolls inside of a clear acrylic display case, with a gold base and nameplate. The case and dolls looked perfect to me. The serial number is #558 of 6000.

I will photograph the set boxed, during the deboxing, and fully deboxed. I will also pose the dolls next to comparable dolls, for instance the Gold D23 Snow White doll set.

A friend passes by as I sit around smoking a cigarette. We talk about something of no consequence. I show him the headline of the newspaper on a stand nearby. 26-year old girl raped by 5 men. I ask my friend why anybody wants to read this. Why anybody cares. Because it happened near us and we a...

Deboxing Frozen Fever Anna. First the front cover is removed. Under that there is a clear plastic lid that has white graphics that are similar to the full color graphics of the outer box cover. Then the clear plastic lid is removed, to show the doll in clear view. She is attached to the cardboard backing and plastic supports, and also to the included display stand. Finally the rear outer cardboard cover is removed, leaving her on the cardboard backing. The backing is free standing. Under the backing is the Certificate of Authenticity, which is inside a sealed clear plastic envelope. The CoA is placed in front of the doll.

I bought my Frozen Fever Anna Limited Edition 17'' Doll from my local Disney Store on her release day, Tuesday November 3, 2015. She is #343 of 5000. I love everything about this doll. She has tinsel in her hair, but unlike the March 2015 Summer Anna doll, whose tinsel was loose and messy looking, this FF Anna has the tinsel perfectly in place. Her hairdo is very similar to that of the Coronation Anna doll, plus she has three satin ribbons coming down from her bun. She has embroidered and jeweled sunflowers in her skirt, and underneath she as a double layered yellow tulle petticoat. She has green tights, like the Harrods Coronation Anna doll, but no bloomers. Finally she has a clock accessory that is a birthday gift from Elsa, with an orange string attached to it and her other hand. She also has a bracelet, a brooch on her collar, a little vest, and a jeweled sunflower hair clip.

I show the doll boxed, during deboxing, and fully deboxed. I also show her with FF Elsa and other comparable dolls.

Adri brings effortless style and authenticity to this contemporary studio portrait. The strong pose, relaxed expression, and modern styling highlight character and individuality, attracting fans of fresh fashion and creative portrait photography. A must‑see image for those seeking inspiration in model tests and editorial work.

"Nothing is original. Steal from anywhere that resonates with inspiration or fuels your imagination. Devour old films, new films, music, books, paintings, photographs, poems, dreams, random conversations, architecture, bridges, street signs, trees, clouds, bodies of water, light and shadows. Select only things to steal from that speak directly to your soul. If you do this, your work (and theft) will be authentic. Authenticity is invaluable; originality is non-existent. And don’t bother concealing your thievery — celebrate it if you feel like it. In any case, always remember what Jean-Luc Godard said: “It’s not where you take things from — it’s where you take them to." "

There is something to be said for authenticity.

When it comes to my pictures, I try to keep the image processing as natural as possible to the original subject photographed.

With artistic expression authenticity, I keep to possessing original or inherent authority.

In other words, I share my vision to improve on the original subject but keep true to originality, honesty and integrity.

In life, there is so much we need to filter through to find what is authentic.

Because sources we listen to sometimes take their vision or expression too far or to the point of deciding what they think we need to hear.

It's good to listen to what they say but, keep our eyes open, as Pope Francis recently Tweet:

"The most radical antidote to the virus of falsehood is purification by the truth."

Luckily, the internet makes this easier to do.

Enjoy your day.

DLD*women (Digital-Life-Design) Conference is taking place for 2.th time in Munich, from 29 to 30th June 2011 "Innovation & Authenticity"

I received my Premiere Series Tiana doll today. I ordered her online from the Disney Store when she was released last Saturday, November 3, 2018. She is #253 of 4000. She is unusual in that her CoA number is only one greater than the Cart #252 that is on the original shipper label. All the other Premiere Series dolls so far have had an edition number 3 greater than the Cart #. The box and doll are close to perfect, except for a broken chain on her purse. I have read that this is a fairly common defect in the doll. Rather than trying to get a replacement from the Disney Store I think I will try to fix it on my own. She has a beautiful face, but the outfit is my least favorite of the series. The large yellow green cloth flower on her chest is really tacky and distracting, and covers her neck and part of her face. The neon yellow green of the skirt is also too gaudy for me, looks like a tutu, and the floral embroidery on her skirt looks childish. Her shoes are lovely, however. She is the fifth of the six doll series, with Belle being the last release in the US and Canada.

I show the box, and the doll with successive layers of the box removed, until the doll is in clear view. I will debox the doll soon.

Box notes of the Limited Edition Jack Skellington 18'' Doll. The same text is also on the Certificate of Authenticity, which is unnumbered.

This figurine celebrates Jack, the dapper Pumpkin King of Halloweentown from Tim Burton's 1993 iconic stop-motion animated film ''The Nightmare Before Christmas.'' Disney artists meticulously studied ''Nightmare,'' frame by frame, to ensure every detail of Jack was accurately captured, from his black-and-white pinstripe suit to his fully articulated body armature. This hand-crafted collectible is a Disney Store exclusive issue, limited to an edition size of 2000 works worldwide.

Limited Edition Jack Skellington 18'' Doll

US Disney Store

Released September 2011

Jack Skellington from the stop motion animated feature The Nightmare Before Christmas, is a Limited Edition doll released by the Disney Store in September 2011. Sally was also released at the same time. He is listed as 18'' tall, but actually Jack is 16'' tall from the bottom of shoes to the top of head. He is made of resin and metal, and have jointed neck, shoulder, elbow, hip and knees. He has a large plastic bat bow tie attached to his body just below his neck. He has cloth top coat, pants and shirt. They are not removable, as they can't go past his feet and hands. He comes inside a coffin shaped cardboard box, resting in a styrofoam bed, with red satin lining and clear plastic viewing window. Also included is a custom metal and resin stands. He is a very accurate representation of the character from the movie.

I got my pre-ordered Designer dolls today from UPS. They came in a huge box, 50 inches long and weighing 40 pounds. It was the original manufacturer's shipper, and the label said Cart #186. Inside the shipper the five doll sets were in individual cartons. I opened Ariel and King Triton first, and saw that it was numbered 188 of 6000, as were all the others. They were all in near perfect shape, with no glaring defects or messy hair. I show photos of each set in the order that I opened them. Then group photos of all five sets, placed side by side.

DLD*women (Digital-Life-Design) Conference is taking place for 2.th time in Munich, from 29 to 30th June 2011 "Innovation & Authenticity"

The Rundāle Palace, Latvia.

What you're seeing here is a recreation of the original interior. The restoration cost over 8 million Euros, which, when you see the results, doesn't seem nearly enough to produce the splendors one encounters at every turn.

What's not clear to me is whether any of decoration is original and restored and how much is brand new. This always frustrates me because I'm hung up on the concept of authenticity. I'll just come right out and say I don't get the same satisfaction from replicas that I do from originals.

One way to resolve this conundrum is to say this is an authentic replica of an 18th century palace that was, as the text below explains, "demolished in 1812 during the Franco-Russian [Napoleonic] War," and then "demolished [again in 1919] by the men of the Bermondt-Avalov army," which was commanded by a Cossack warlord who decided to take over newly-independent Latvia instead of fighting the Bolsheviks.

Still, this begs the question of the meaning of such a place. A hot take is that it's an expression of Latvian nationalism. However, in the 18th century this region was ruled by Germans and then by Russians. Most ethnic Latvians were serfs. Perhaps the nationalist message is that the Latvians, once free from the rule of Baltic Germans, Czarist Russians, Nazis and the Soviets, had the wherewithal to recreate a palace once owned by an overlord and make it their own. To further make the point, the compound is now a major tourist attraction, so interiors once intended solely for the aristocracy, royalty and their hangers-on and servants are today filled to the brim with tourists like us.

Is is also a acknowledged center for the study of 18th-century interior design? The devil is in the details, and I haven't yet had time to delve into that.

If you're wondering why the point of view in these photos is from the top of the windows to the ceiling, it's because there were mobs of visitors that made it almost impossible to photograph whole walls, much less floors.

Here is the whole history of the construction of the palace from the palace's informative Web site. I recommend visiting it if for no other reason than to see the rooms devoid of visitors. Also, there's a section on the restoration.

The name of Rundāle comes from the German place-name Ruhenthal (Valley of Peace).

The Rundāle Palace built during the 16th century was located on the northern side of the pond. It can be seen in the design of F. B. Rastrelli as a small square field with towers in the corners.

Rundāle Manor was already created at the end of the 15th century. It belonged to the Grotthus family from 1505 to 1681 and the palace was mentioned in the list of Livonian castles in 1555.

Facade finishing components have been found in the territory of the palace – cast fragments and fragments of coats of arms carved in stone dating to the middle of the 17th century. In 1735 Ernst Johann von Biron bought the Rundāle property for 42 000 thalers.

The old palace was completely torn down, and the stones, bricks and even the mortar were used in the construction of the new palace.

Duke Ernst Johann died in 1772, and the palace was inherited by his widow Duchess Benigna Gottlieb; during her time orchards were formed around the palace. Duke Peter did not come to Rundāle often, he mostly resided in the smaller Vircava Palace near Jelgava.

In 1795 Duke Peter gave up his throne and the Duchy of Courland and Semigallia was added to the Russian Empire. Catherine II gave Rundāle Manor as a present to Count Valerian Zubov who died in 1804.

During the distribution of inheritance Rundāle became the property of his brother Prince Platon Zubov, the last favourite of Catherine II.

During the time of Zubov the palace was refurnished, however the building itself remained untouched, only entrance porticos were added to the central building and several fireplaces were built inside.

The palace was demolished in 1812 during the Franco-Russian War – mirrors were smashed, silk wallpaper was torn down, the library given as a present from Catherine II was destroyed.

Prince Platon Zubov died in Rundāle Palace on 7 April 1822. His widow married Count Andrey Shuvalov, and Rundāle Manor belonged to this family until the agrarian reform of the Republic of Latvia in 1920.

The Shuvalovs rarely stayed in the palace, excluding the time period from 1864 to 1866 when Count Pyotr Shuvalov was the governor-general of the Baltic region and used Rundāle Palace as his official summer residence.

During this time unsuccessful renovation of the palace rooms was carried out, however during the 1880’s careful renovation of the interior design was performed. At the end of the 19th century part of the palace’s furniture and works of art was taken to Saint Petersburg.

During the time from 1915 to 1918 a German army commandant’s office and an infirmary was established in the palace. In 1919 the palace was demolished by the men of the Bermondt-Avalov army.

The palace was renovated in 1923 and some of its rooms were used as the primary school of Rundāle Parish. In 1924 Rundāle Palace was handed over to the Latvian Union of Disabled Veterans, but in 1933 it was taken over by the Board of Monuments which started the renovation of the building and the restoration of some of the rooms, and the western building was constructed for the needs of the primary school.

In 1938 the palace was handed over to the State Historical Museum that was planning to create a church art and decorative art museum there. The palace was also open to the public during World War II.

In 1945 a grain storage was formed in the halls of the palace, and the palace was closed to the public after that.

In 1963 some of the palace’s rooms were given to the Museum of Regional Studies and Art of Bauska, but in 1972 a permanent Rundāle Palace Museum was created and its main aim was to renew the whole ensemble of the palace by mainly orientating towards the condition of the palace during the second part of the 18th century.

The first restored rooms in the eastern building of the palace were opened to the public in 1981, gradually being followed by new interiors. Restoration of the palace was finished in 2014.

Construction history

Count Ernst Johann von Biron bought the Rundāle manor complex on 26 June 1735. In August of the same year the court architect of Russia Francesco Rastrelli came to Courland. From September until December agreements were being concluded with carpenters, masons, brickmakers, construction material suppliers, potters – stove makers.

The construction project was ready in January of 1736. The eight pages of the project are located in the graphic art collection “Albertina” in Vienna. It consists of a situation plan, two floor plans, a sketch of four facades and the altar of the palace church.

The first construction period from 1736 to 1740.

On 24 May 1736 the foundation-stone of the palace was set. Construction of the foundation was completed on 6 July, whereas on 13 October the central building was built to the level of the windowsill of the second floor. The construction of 12 brick-kilns and 12 brick storages was finished in June. 268 masons were working in the palace, but Rastrelli requested 500 men.

Construction was stopped on 1 November due to cold.

The construction works were restarted on 12 April 1737. On 28 May the central building was finished, and on 18 June covering was started to be placed on the side buildings, whereas the construction of the central building roof was finished at the end of June.

When the works were stopped on 10 October, one side building was roofed over, and the other one was covered with a temporary roof. The foundations of the stables were also ready. The bricklaying works were finished on 1 October 1737.

After Biron was elected Duke, he ordered to simplify the building. The finishing materials were produced by the master carpenters and woodcarver A. Kamaev of the Imperial Construction Bureau of Saint Petersburg, master potter I. Ushakov of the Neva brick factory with his team and painters I. Mizinov, I. Pilugin and I. Yevdokimov. Austrian potters were working in Vircava. The finishing materials were also being produced in Saint Petersburg.

In 1738 the volume of work in Rundāle decreased, as construction works of Jelgava Palace began. Some of the produced components were also taken to Jelgava. However, the works were moving forward – chimneys and room arches were being built, roofs were being finished.

From 14 June, when the construction of the main residence in Jelgava began, the construction works in Rundāle were moving at a slower pace. Master carpenter Eger had finished oak-wood panels for 33 rooms, as well as 13 oak-wood parquet floors. Ceilings boards were put up in the rooms, so that the plastering works could be started. In September the carpenters started working on the outside staircases. The construction of the gate tower was also started.

Entwurf von Rastrelli: die Nordfassade des Schlosses Rundāle mit dem Torturm

Rastrelli’s design, nothern facade of the palace with the gate tower.

In 1739 the interior plastering works were supposed to be carried out, but the Duke ordered to decrease the amount of plasterers and to simplify the work. Stucco formations were made only for the main staircase rooms and halls, the other rooms were left with smooth ceilings. Only ten craftsmen were working in Rundāle.

On 1 February after the order of Empress of Russia Anna Ioannovna all of the Saint Petersburg Construction Office masons were sent to Courland.

The components made for Rundāle, including carved doors, panels, parquet, Austrian potter stoves, plafonds painted on canvas and cast-iron facade decorations made by Bartolomeo Tarsia that can be seen in the Jelagava Palace facade, were transported to the main residence in Jelgava.

N. Vasilyev assisted Rastrelli in managing the construction works. Russian chamberlain Ernst Johann von Buttlar was in charge of finances and organisation and he was sending reports to Saint Petersburg regarding the work process.

In 1740 the woodcut altar of the palace church was transported to Jelgava. Supposedly the room decoration in the palace had been finished, but not all of the wall panels had been mounted and some of the stoves were also not set up, as a lot of the materials were in storage.

Work was stopped after the palace revolution of 20 November in Russia and the arrest and exile of Duke Ernst Johann. The prepared finishing materials and construction components were sent to Saint Petersburg, and some of the built-in components, such as doors, wall panels and parquet, were broken.

Overall more than a thousand different profession craftsmen and workers were employed in the construction works of the palace.

The second construction period from 1764 to 1770.

In 1762 Ernst Johann von Biron was granted mercy and returned to Courland in January of 1763.

In January of 1764 Johann Gottfried Seidel was appointed the court architect of the Duke, but in August Francesco Rastrelli returned to work for the Duke and was appointed to the position of main administrator of the Duke’s buildings.

During this time he arranged his construction designs and carried out general supervision of the Duke’s construction works.

The unfinished gate tower was torn down and the stable building construction was started. Latvian carpenters and woodworkers were sent from the Duke’s domain manors to Rundāle up until 1768. In 1765 woodworker Blanks, sculptor Zībenbrods, locksmith Šreibfogels, gold plating master Johans Endress, potter Šēfers, locksmith Horstmanis and coppersmith Mēmels were working in the palace.

In 1766 Severin Jensen from Denmark started working as the court architect. His style can be seen in the gateposts and in the stable buildings, which obtained a semicircular shape in contrast to Rastrelli’s rectangular design. A dating – 16 May 1766 – has been made in the keystone of the northern facade window.

In 1768 the gate was built and the forgings were placed.

The palace interior planning was changed slightly. By merging five smaller rooms the grand dining-room – the Grand Gallery – was created, whereas a dance hall known as the White Hall was created in the place of the palace church. Both front staircases, the Small Gallery, the lobby and galleries of the first floor were preserved from the original interiors of the first construction period.

The stucco decorative finishing of the interiors was carried out by the Berlin sculptor and stucco marble master Johann Michael Graff together with his team – his brother Josef and assistants Bauman and Lanz – from 1765 to 1768.

Sculpturesque decorations were made in twenty-seven rooms, but in two rooms of the Duke’s apartments and in the hall – synthetic marble panels. Works were started in the central building first.

The Marble Hall and the marble panel of the Gold Hall in which the dating has been engraved on the door lining, were finished in 1767. In July of 1768 Graff received payment for his final works – the White Hall, Oval Cabinet, Duchess’ Boudoir and vases for the 22 stair banisters.

The ceilings were painted by the Italian painters Francesco Martini and Carlo Zucchi from Saint Petersburg. They started working in August of 1766, but only the name of Martini is mentioned in documents starting with March of 1768. Francesco Martini received his last payment in March of 1769.

Ceilings of eight rooms, as well as the walls of two rooms were painted. One of the ceiling paintings got destroyed. The repainted wall paintings were later uncovered in the Grand Gallery and in the second study of the Duke.

The Duke came to Rundāle Palace in April of 1767 and stayed there until December with interruptions, although the finishing works were still in progress. The palace was also inhabited in 1768. The final works were carried out in 1770 when a fellow of J. M. Graff placed mirrors in the White Hall.

DIABOLCAL!

Fresh from it's DHL prison is the Mafex release of Billy Butcher. I'm not the biggest fan of Mafex, but it was either this, a 1/6, or NECA, none of which particularly interested me. Sadly, there's been no Kimiko from anyone, and only NECA has a Starlight as of this point in time.

The soft overcoat is quite nice, with good tailoring and some sewn in wires for posing. While the buttons aren't functional, its visually nice to have them there, as are the non functional pockets.

It's interesting to see that Medicom has decided to implement a system to verify the authenticity of a holographic decal. I couldn't get the thing to work.

To summarize everything else, well, I'll put it this way - the stories about Mafex figures is generally true, in that there's always something wrong with them.

Articulation isn't bad, though hip articulation isn't the greatest, especially when compared to options from Figurarts. Faces are a bit on the cartoony side, but you can easily tell it's supposed to be Urban.

What's annoying about this figure, however, is the fact that the hand that is designated to hold the non articulated baby figure doesn't even hold the thing in place, and that the gripping hand only seems to work on the electric rod, but not so much the crowbar.

Thank goodness the gun grippers work fine.

Liberals usually claim that homosexuality is inborn. Religious people and manospherians usually claim that homosexuality is a mental illness. Both commit the same fallacy, an appeal to nature based on personal bias. Both assumptions, when declared doctrine, are potentially harmful.

If we declare ...

Some scholars doubt the authenticity of this portrait. It shows clearly Nero, but the elongated profile and the head does not have the massive structure of his known portraits.

The lack of beard qualifies this sculpture as a youthful portrait. The two opposing hair strands sculpted between the forehead and left temple, are a detail recalling the young Nero’s iconography: portrait of Nero housed at Palazzo Massimo in Rome.

This detail means that the sculptor had a reference model for this copy.

Summarizing, this head could be a copy of a lost original portrait belonging to the group stylistically classified as "Palatino".

Paradas is a small Andalucian town (population around 7,000) situated about 40km east of the provincial capital, Seville. In most regards, it's a fairly run-of-the-mill, unremarkable, typically Spanish town and certainly well away from the well-trodden tourist track. However there's at least two very special reasons for visiting Paradas. Firstly, the quite incredible 'La Alhambra de Paradas'. Inspired by a visit to Granada's Alhambra many years ago, José Luis Romero took it upon himself to build a smaller version of the famous Moorish palace right in the centre of Paradas! Now, behind the very ordinary, plain front of a 3 storey house, close to the centre of the town, is that homage and what an amazing surprise awaits anyone lucky enough to visit it. In 2005 the building was completed after 12 years of total commitment and dedication. The attention to detail in every respect is quite incredible; the very best materials and craftsmen from all over Andalucia being employed throughout the building. José, who worked for many years in the textile trade, now delights in taking visitors around the ''La Alhambra de Paradas' on a guided tour (in Spanish only). Don't miss the opportunity of visiting this extraordinary building - it will make your jaw drop! The second reason for taking a detour to Paradas can be found just a few yards away from José's house. The 'Iglesia Parroquial de San Eutropio en Paradas' is a beautiful church built in the late Sevillian baroque style. It's inside, though, where the real 'find' is. On one of the main walls near the entrance hangs a copy of a painting by the famous Greek painter, 'El Greco', whose most mature work was produced during his extended time in Spain. However, if luck is with you, the chaplain will open up the sacristy for you where, amongst a number of religious treasures, hangs the original, 'The Repentant Mary Magdalene' by 'El Greco'; a work of great beauty. (One art critic has questioned the authenticity of the work; attributing to one of El Greco's apprentices - in the absence of anything more convincing, we're more than happy to accept that it's perfectly genuine and just marvel at its splendour). So then, these are the two very good reasons for visiting Paradas. There may be more things to see in this charming town - the 'Plaza de San Juán de Letrán' is very attractive too - but for the time being that will suffice! There are plenty more photos of Paradas and other Spanish towns/locations if you take a look at my 'Albums' page, www.flickr.com/photos/36623892@N00/sets/ - thank you.

Detailed photos of the Saks LE Snow White Doll. The front cardboard cover is removed, leaving the doll behind the inner plastic cover. Then the plastic cover and rear cardboard cover are removed, leaving the doll on the inner cardboard backing, which is free standing. The Certificate of Authenticity is removed from under the backing, and placed in front of the doll.

I just received the Saks Fifth Avenue Snow White Doll! I purchased her by phoning the flagship NYC Saks store, who in turn had the Saks store in Troy, Michigan ship her to me. I chose overnight shipping. She shipped on Monday evening, and arrived by noon on Tuesday. She was double boxed, which kraft paper used as the packing material. She arrived in perfect condition. However, there was no protection around the doll box itself inside the original shipper box, just a piece of tissue paper between the inside plastic cover and the outside cardboard cover.

The Saks Fifth Avenue Snow White Limited Edition 17 inch Doll, sold exclusively by Saks Fifth Avenue, both online and in stores. She was produced by the Disney Store, for Saks. It rolled out in a few Saks stores, including their flagship NYC store, on Thursday October 26, 2017 as a surprise release. She became available online shortly after midnight in the morning of Friday October 27, 2017, and sold out around noon time. She became briefly available again late that night. She costs $370, just about half the cost of the Snow White and Prince set. My doll is numbered 210 of 1000.

She is in winter colors, primarily white, with gold embroidery and trim, with red and gold satin lining. She is in a box with the same construction as the 2017 Snow White and Prince Collector's Doll Set. She is a really beautiful, well designed and construction doll.

October 2025

An object of pure luxury, created for the jet set, the Fiat 500 Jolly occupied a market segment all its own: beach cars. This type of automobile, created by Ghia at Fiat's request with the 600 in 1958, found its best self in the Nuova 500. Although it seems close to the standard version, in reality it was a real coachbuilder's car, the fruit of Gianni Agnelli's imagination, and handbuilt in the Carrozzeria Ghia atelier in Turin. Elegantly converted into a cabriolet with neither doors nor roof, it was decked out with a canework interior, and adorned with a fine, canvas roof, with much more in common with a parasol than real protection from bad weather. A luxury object, the Jolly was sold for a king's ransom and reserved to the jet set. While Agnelli parked his on his yacht, the Agneta, others, like the US president Lyndon B Johnson, used theirs as golf carts. Famous Jolly owners included Princess Grace of Monaco, Elvis Presley, Aristotle Onassis, John Wayne. In total, between 500 and 650 models were produced by the Italian coachbuilder.

As for this model, it was delivered new in 1961 to Mrs Sophie Camplez Dalle, then wife of François Dalle, managing director of Groupe L'Oréal. Domiciled in Cannes, the 500 Jolly was used sparingly by its owners of the time, before being repainted blue between the late 1960s and early 1970s. Kept by Mrs Camplez Dalle until 1995, it later entered the collection of a fan of the marque, who exhibited it with the Fiat Fan Club France at various events, including Le Mans Classic and the Italian Festival at Montlhéry. The current owner acquired the car in 2023. The Jolly, still in very good condition, having been driven a total of just 30,000 kilometres around the South of France, was in a rare condition, without the slightest trace of rust. As such, with the exception of its change of colour, the Jolly needed only a preservation restoration, rather than a total reconstruction. The exterior coachwork was thus stripped and the original Ghia ivory colour found under the blue paintwork was recreated using a spectrophotometer. The specific fittings and screws were renovated rather than replaced, the canework seats were completely refurbished to be identical to their original state, while the mechanical parts were more thoroughly overhauled, including a full refurbishment of the engine with rebalancing of all moving parts. The engine compartments and matte black boot did not require restoration and remain in their original state, down to the coachwork numbers 2164 stencilled on the floors or engraved on the chrome fittings. Just as exceptional is the roof system with its original tubes, which have not even been restored.

Today in rare authentic condition, with all its original features and complete with its original set of accessories in their fabric case, this Fiat 500 Jolly Ghia has its matching numbers and will be sold with substantial documentation.

It comes with its French registration document, including the letters "CABR" for "cabriolet", copies of its previous registration documents, a statement from the Registro Fiat Italiano, a statement from the Fiat Fan Club France, a file and photo book of its restoration, as well as its original Uso e Manutenzione booklet.

It is probably one of the most authentic and best-preserved of the estimated 100 or so surviving models around the world, testament to the 1950s and 1960s and the much-celebrated Italian Dolce Vita!

Deboxing my Belle and the Beast Doll Set. First the illustrated slip cover is slid off the display case, revealing the dolls inside a clear acrylic enclosure. They are secured to the built in doll stands and the cardboard backing and plastic spacers by wires, rubber bands and plastic tabs. Then the clear acrylic cover is lifted off the base. In this case I had considerable difficulty freeing the cover from the base. The tabs under the base wouldn't let go of the cover, no matter what I did, until I turned the box upside down and fiddled with the tabs while I jiggled the cover. In the process Belle's hair got a bit messy, but her hair wasn't that neat to begin with, so i smoothed it a bit before taking photos of the set uncovered.

First look at my Belle and the Beast Doll Set, part of the Disney Fairytale Designer Collection. Purchased from my local Disney Store through the raffle process on release day, October 1, 2013. There were 28 doll sets available, and easily three times that many people who entered. I was very lucky in that I was the next to last person to be chosen.

In his summation, Merton points out Bernard’s concern for authenticity, for his listeners “be[ ing] what they are supposed to be . . . not a mere sham”; his analysis of “the psychological reality of the spiritual life,” rooted in experience, beyond the level of abstract concepts; his emphasis on clerics and monks seeking “the highest perfection of love” both for their own sake and for the sake of the fruitfulness of the entire Church; and the effectiveness of Bernard’s rhetorical strategy, first describing “the beauties of the Christian vocation to sanctity” in compelling and attractive detail, and only then exposing and condemning the abuses rampant in clerical life of the period. “They are,” Merton concludes, “truly the words of a saint” (214).

My LE Moana doll on the cardboard backing. The front and rear covers have been removed. In front of the doll is the Certificate of Authenticity, showing that she is numbered 3031 of 5500.

Detailed photos of my second edition Disney Store Limited Edition Moana 16 inch doll. I got her in person on release day, Tuesday March 7, 2017. She is #3031 of 5500.

She has a red feather cape and bodice (actually made of satin). The bodice is decorated with white seashells. She has a red scalloped waistband. Her skirt is 3/4 length, made of up layers of multicolored leaves and grass. It has simulated water droplets. She has a leaf and flower headdress, a shell necklace that opens up, red feather arm band and a leaf and seashell anklet. The armband and anklet are made of cloth and not plastic (as was the case with the first Moana LE doll). They also did a very good job of hiding the joints on arms and legs of this doll, again improving on the first edition. Her face also has a more pleasant expression than the first one. She has sand on her bare feet. The only area where the first doll has a definite edge is the inclusion of the Pua and Hei Hei figures. The second Moana has no accessories except for her oar, which is identical to the one included with the first doll.

I show Moana boxed, being deboxed and fully deboxed. She isn't too stable free standing, so I put her on the included display stand for the photos after deboxing her.

Deboxing my Limited Edition Prince Eric 18'' Doll. First the front cardboard cover or lid is taken off, by sliding it off the box. There are no seals to break. Underneath is a clear plastic cover through which the doll is clearly seen in an unobstructed view. Next the back lid is removed, then the clear plastic cover. Eric is still attached the cardboard backing and doll stand. Under the cardboard backing is the Certificate of Authenticity. My doll is #79 of 1500.

First look at my Limited Edition Prince Eric 18'' Doll. I got him along with the Limited Edition Ursula and Ariel 17'' Dolls from my local Disney Store on the release day, October 1, 2013. They are all sold out online, and probably in stores, too. My store had 5 Eric dolls and only 4 Ursula dolls. Photographed boxed, during deboxing and fully deboxed.

The Snow White Cel in its cardboard folder, with the protective covers removed. The unnumbered Certificate of Authenticity is placed next to it.

I just received the LE 1500 Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs ''Look What I Got'' Cel by Disney's Hollywood Studios Ink and Paint in WDW. It was slightly creased on its left side during shipping. But fortunately the hand painted image of Snow White and Dopey was in perfect condition. The Cel was packaged in several layers. There was a thin cardboard folder (or matte) into which the artwork was placed, secured into slots on the lower left and right corners of the folder. There was a clear acetate cover, then tissue paper over the Cel itself, then the Cel, then the printed background image. There was also an unnumbered Certificate of Authenticity, and a double sided information and instruction sheet.

It was very interesting to see in person how an animation Cel is constructed. On the front side of the acetate sheet is the black inked lines outlining the figures to be animated. They are produced using Xerography. Then on the reverse side of the acetate is the actual colored painting, filling in the spaces outlined by the ink on the other side. You can see how the different colors are applied in multiple layers.

The Sturgeon Moon, August’s full moon, carries powerful spiritual symbolism rooted in ancient wisdom and seasonal cycles.

Named after the prehistoric sturgeon fish, which was most abundant in late summer, this moon invites us to rise from emotional depths, just as the sturgeon surfaces from the lake bottom.

♀️ Spiritual Themes

• Resilience & Strength: Like the sturgeon, this moon reminds us of our ability to endure and thrive through challenges.

• Release & Renewal: It’s a potent time to let go of emotional clutter, outdated beliefs, or toxic attachments.

• Authenticity & Intuition: The moon in Aquarius (2025) encourages introspection, creative problem-solving, and reconnecting with your true self.

Thank you for your visit and any faves or comments are always greatly appreciated!
