At the same reservoir near Wernigerode, where hence I had an utter field day, literally!

I used an ND2-400 Grey Filter Vario from hama, on the kitlens at 55mm and brought the dark to several ƒ-stops creased inclusive of the available ƒ36 on the camera less that of the lens 1:3.5-5.6 determined by minimum and maximum focal range from 18-55mm. Thankfully I also got hold of, thanks to my partner Vera, Up & Down rings, which means you use them to fit any filter onto any lens, just adapt the rings. Think of it as adjustable sunglasses to fit differing sized eyeballs done manually.

Link for better explanation: havecamerawilltravel.com/photographer/lens-filter-step-up...

So I snapped off a daytime Long Exposure at the full preset 30 seconds, adjusting the ND filter can sometimes be a task of trial and error, if you're like me and hopeless at math, the equations of ƒ-stops is lost on us! So trial and error is often the game.

Plus you can only do this with a tripod or a flat stable surface.

I hope that explains things clearly enough. The photo is of course water reflecting the sky, embankment and the tree line. I threw in a stone to get a slight rippled effect and deliberate motion blur for additional visual authentication.

Huge appreciation to all my followers, favers, commentators, etc, and so as always, thank you! :)

Situated in the middle of 1000 acres of beautiful parklands, Highclere Castle is one of England's most beautiful Victorian castles. Downton Abbey was filmed at the grand Highclere Castle, the gardens and the surrounding 1,000 acres of English countryside lushly authenticate the Edwardian-era atmosphere of the well-known seres. To the southeast of the castle lies the Monks' Garden, a name derived from the Bishops of Winchester who had owned the estate for 800 years before it was acquired by the Carnarvon family in 1679. Records in 1218 list 61 fruit trees that were replanted in 1364 when 44 apple trees and 27 pear trees were planted.

Back in the mid 1980s while driving with my father, he informed me as soon as he saw the Schlein Deli and Catering building, that it had once been a drugstore...plus his dad, my grandfather, would occasionally work there as a fill-in pharmacist back in the 1930s or early 1940s. I was stunned and immediately stopped my car and grabbed this shot. Heck I lived 3 blocks from the location and never heard a peep about this. This was/is part of the original Norhill Heights Business District (developed in the 1920s)....which I think was about one block long. Ain't family history fun!? Especially when you can take a photo to authenticate and document it. :-)

Today Three Dog Bakery operates where Schlein's was. It's a bakery for dogs. True story. :-) The barber shop closed years ago...but I took my sons there a time or two back yonder. The car wash is gone....replaced by a massive retirement home.

The area is known for its amazing pictographs and geological formations. The pictographs are a Barrier Canyon-style, this one is holding a snake in its hand and the other has it near its mouth. It is thought that this panel may be a depiction of a snake dance that is reminiscent of the Hopi Snake Dance, where the members carry handfuls of snakes and even hold them in their mouth. The Hopi believe snakes are their ancestors. The Hopi (peaceful ones) people have the longest authenticated history of occupation of a single area by any Native American tribe in the United States. Thought to have migrated north out of Mexico around 500 B.C., the Hopi have always lived in the Four Corners area of the United States.

Sadhus, ascetic holy men, have been integral to Indian society for centuries. Rooted in Hindu traditions, they renounce worldly possessions and dedicate their lives to spiritual pursuits. Sadhus embody detachment, austerity, and devotion, serving as spiritual guides, healers, and custodians of religious knowledge. They play crucial roles in performing rituals, blessings, and providing spiritual counsel to devotees. Beyond Hinduism, Sadhus are also revered figures in Jainism and Buddhism, symbolizing the pursuit of enlightenment and liberation from worldly desires.

However, the revered status of Sadhus has led to the emergence of impostors who exploit people's faith for personal gain. Some individuals masquerade as Sadhus, seeking alms, donations, or wealth under false pretenses. These fake Sadhus tarnish the reputation of genuine practitioners, eroding trust and credibility in the spiritual community. Despite efforts to regulate and authenticate Sadhus, the prevalence of impostors remains a challenge in Indian society.

While many Sadhus uphold the principles of renunciation and service, the presence of fraudulent practitioners underscores the complex interplay between spirituality, faith, and human nature in Indian society.

The Blarney Stove

An undocumented local legend holds that anyone who kisses this stove will soon play host to a flesh-eating bacteria. The legend remains untested, with the exception of an inebriated lad in the late 19th century. Another local legend, that of a faceless man knocking on people’s doors and windows has been authenticated. :)

Revelation 14:9-11 “Then another angel, a third one, followed them, saying with a loud voice, ‘If anyone worships the beast and his image, and receives a mark on his forehead or on his hand, he also will drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is mixed in full strength in the cup of His anger; and he will be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels and in the presence of the Lamb. And the smoke of their torment ascends forever and ever; they have no rest day and night, those who worship the beast and his image, and whoever receives the mark of his name.’”

I've been ill for 7 weeks now, but I've finally picked up my camera again and created something. I'm hugely better than I was, but still needing lots of pills every day, which make me very sleepy. Sadly, I seem to have missed the whole summer. :(

One of the activities which has helped me pass the time is creating wax seals - a modern version of the seals that were used to authenticate important documents in the Middle Ages. They're much prettier now. The lovely thing about it is that when things go wrong, as they do, you can just cut them up, melt them and start again. :)

Thank you to everyone who wrote kind, supportive, comments on my last upload and special thanks to those who sent me personal messages. They really cheered me up and I'm very grateful.

I hope I'll be back on Flickr properly very soon.

Flying Scotsman is a Pacific steam locomotive built in 1923 for the London and North Eastern Railway at the Doncaster Works to a design of Nigel Gresley. It was employed on long-distance express East Coast Main Line trains by the LNER and its successors, British Railways Eastern and North-Eastern Regions, notably on the London to Edinburgh Flying Scotsman train service after which it was named.

The locomotive set two world records for steam traction, becoming the first steam locomotive to be officially authenticated at reaching 100 miles per hour (160.9 km/h) on 30 November 1934,and then setting a record for the longest non-stop run by a steam locomotive when it ran 422 miles (679 km) on 8 August 1989 while in Australia.[

Retired from regular service in 1963 after covering 2.08 million miles, it is now preserverd and used for Steam Charter excursions.

The Fying Scotsman was the first locomotive to achieve an officially authenticated 100 mph (in 1934). Also in 1989 it set the then longest non-stop run of 422 miles while in Australia.

It was retired from British Rail service in 1963 and changed hands a number of times until 2004 when it was bought by the National Railway Museum. During that time it toured the USA, Canada and Australia. It has been going though a thorough restoration process since January 2006 and has recently been restored to running condition in Bury (since October 2013). This is one of its testing runs. It hasn't been painted BR Green yet; which I think is the plan for the summer. This is its wartime black livery.

Sadly, another dark and dingy day.

Together we’re building a new identity ecosystem, a globally recognized universal biometric ID blockchain system. It will be a biometric smartchip ID that will be tracked worldwide by AI to solve the 17 sustainable development goals.

The Mark of the Beast is a Certification Mark of authentication (the new global standard), affirming that all who are involved with this new global biometric digital ID blockchain are compliant with the core principles of the 17 Sustainable Development goals, which have been adopted by all the United Nations Member States. No one will be able to buy or sell or do anything in society without this Certification Mark. This Mark will now become mandatory for all. Without it, you will be arrested.

Through the means of a microchip implant we will be able to eradicate human trafficking (we cause the crisis, and then we offer you the solution). Every kind of supposed virtuous cause will be exploited to promote the 666 Beastchip. Climate change…take the smartchip…blah, blah, blah. Refugees…take the smartchip…blah, blah, blah. Human rights…take the smartchip…blah, blah, blah. Fight poverty…take the smartchip…blah, blah, blah. For the sake of equality, inclusiveness, and sustainability…take the smartchip…blah, blah, blah.

When I first painted this restaurant to look like a boxcar I knew it had to have a colossus of roads on it. I just didn't imagine that I would befriend him and get to authenticate it in such a way.

Step 3. Adding the authenticating details. These are the ones that make sense of the forms. This is when I looked at my source photo for ideas on what would add the most to the painting. See my photostream for the first two steps leading up to this.

Really pleased to finally see one of these guys in the process of moulting and even more chuffed that I managed a focus stack as well. In the main shot the Dicyrtomina saundersi is pulling the antennae and collophore out from the old cuticle, it seemed quite a task :o)

Like many other Arthropods, Collembola moult to enable further growth and also to reach maturity, they will also continue to moult on attaining maturity, in some species they moult 40x or more. The time between each moult varies with species, it can be a few days for juvenile instars and longer for older instars. Also did you know that the maximum authenticated longevity for a Springtail in a laboratory is 5 years and 7 months in Pseudosinella impediens, which I find absolutely amazing :o)

The main image is a 7 image focus stack at x7 magnification, I used an F/6.3 aperture, would have preferred using F/5.6, but I was trying to get a quick stack as this guy was always moving, there was some movement in the stack, but only slight and I was able to edit around the problem areas. This was a relatively juvenile individual at about 1mm, I have some stacks of it post emergence which I may post later :o)

Hope everyone has a great weekend :o)

Verifying you are human. This may take a few seconds.

It is becoming difficult to distinguish online between Artificial Intelligence and human activity. A biometric framework is needed for individuals to prove their humanity, so they can gain access to services like the internet. Scan your Iris to gain access to Central Bank Digital Currencies and Universal Basic Income. Universal Basic Income will be needed to transition the world into a new sustainable order. Universal Basic Income will be the solution to the unemployment problem caused by the Fourth Industrial Revolution. As Artificial Intelligence progresses, human jobs will continue to decrease.

Humanity must be further prodded towards a smart-chip tattoo, which will authenticate Proof of Personhood for the World ID system. Whoever is in the World ID database will obtain global citizenship. However, those who do not participate in this biometric system will be locked out of society. The World ID system will facilitate a society-wide transition to Worldunicoin. Our motto: “Leave no one behind.” World ID will be the global standard—the global Proof of Personhood—to access all goods and services.

A rider on a white horse, a small horn rising to power, proclaiming peace in a chaotic world: peace and safety for all humankind! Is this not the rider, the figure on the Worldunicoin? Take his seal on your right hand or forehead for Proof of Global Citizenhood, and then you can buy and sell in the new global order. “And all who dwell on the earth will worship the Beast—all whose names have not been written from the foundation of the world in the Book of Life belonging to the Lamb who was slain.”

In Scripture:

Elijah is taken up to heaven: 2 Kings 2:1-14

Elijah — a prophet who is often associated with John the Baptist — also crossed the Jordan River on dry ground in this area, and was then taken up to heaven in a chariot of fire (2 Kings 2:8-11).

Whatever one’s religious persuasion, it’s hard not to be moved by this minimal pile of ruins lying at the end of the Jordan Valley near the Dead Sea. This is the site, archaeologists assure us, where John the Baptist preached, where Jesus was baptised, where the first five apostles met, and where, thereby, the foundations of the early Christian faith were laid. They chose an auspicious spot, as many also believe this was the place from where prophet Elijah (who was born in Mar Elias in north Jordan) ascended to heaven in a whirlwind.

***

Archaeological excavations also established that the hill of Tell al-Kharrar, known as Elijah's Hill, was venerated as the spot from which Prophet Elijah ascended to heaven. In the 5th century, in commemoration, a Byzantine monastery was erected here. The archaeologists have named it the "Monastery of Rhetorios" after a name from a Byzantine mosaic inscription.

***

Tell Elias is where Elijah is said to have ascended to heaven, although there is little to see here. The rebuilt arch marks the 5th- to 6th-century pilgrim chapel, where Pope John Paul II authenticated the site in 2000. The nearby 3rd-century rectangular prayer hall is one of the earliest Christian places of worship ever discovered, dating from a period when Christianity was still illegal.

An New Age

Until recently I have not considered such a thing as a log to keep of missions and such. But the more I use it, the more I keep my sanity.

...

With the recent "upgrade" NATO handed out all soldiers, including myself are, quote more fit to fight - more effective and lethal against hostile forces that'd appose NATO. Ironically enough those words I quoted from Prime Minister 'Chamberlain. Something has changed in that man, though I cannot put my finger on it..he's become obsessed with world domination. It becomes more apparent in the more frequent secret meeting we have. Comprised of myself and several other, highly trusted men and guards loyal to the Prime Minister.

...

Just last night we spoke on the official invasion plans for Canada - more changes are like to come I am certain, seeing as war is a never ending game of unforeseen consequences. Which leads me to NATO's possible consequences. NATO's upgrades, could there be a problem or error in the dissension making? I'll admit I feel more bad-ass than I did before in the new tactical equipment, but I myself have yet to see how they fair in actual combat. Edge shares my concerns, as does Romeo. But only time will tell where things will lead...

Warrant Officier Gray - "Indeed Prime Minister Canada also provides NATO with a much more solid back bone for military action against all other countries, if need be..."

Prime Minister Sebastian - "I say why must we bare our fangs against an Allie? Socra bleu this is unthinkable, worse than when my country surrendered to the Germans!"

Prime Minister 'Chamberlain - "Ease yourself, friend - things have changed, the world has changed. This action is to show it and all those who doubt NATO's power that we are not to be considered with the weak and feeble! They will fear us once we are through with this world!"

Central Province/Sri Lanka (The Golden caves of Dambulla were occupied in very early times by Buddhist hermits. The antiquity of this place has been authenticated by the presence of pre-Christian inscriptions in Brahmi character immediately below the drip-ledge of the central cave. The shape of the letters of all the short inscriptions in Brahmi form at Dambulla is distinctly those of the first century B. C, At that time there was only one king known as Abhaya, also known as Vattagamani Abhaya (89-77B. C.). this leaves no doubt that the king Abhaya referred to in the above quoted inscription Vattagamani Abhaya. Dambulla became a popular place of residence of Buddhist monks at least from the reign of this king.

According to tradition Vattagamani Abhaya, who fled from his kingdom, Anuradhapura, when it was invaded by south Indians, was helped by the monks residing in caves like Dambulla. The Mahavamsa records that the Buddhist scriptures were first committed to writing by Buddhist monks at Aluvihara in the reign of this king. This can be taken as substantial evidence to show that great caves like Dambulla and Aluvihare in the central part of the Island were residing places of Buddhist monks during this early period and were also patronized by the kings of Anuradhapura.

There are five caves (shrine rooms) in Dambulla temple. All of these caves arc full of statues of Buddha and various personages of the Buddhist Order or History. There are 150 Buddha images in these caves. Cave No. 5 (the last in order) has no historical value as it was done in the second decade of this century. All of the other caves contain statues and paintings representing various epochs of Sinhalese sculpture and painting. The early paintings of Dambulla are believed by patterns of which resemble those of Sigiriya...)

A Rare authenticated relic of the Veil of the Blessed Virgin directly coming from a friend Bishop

The relic of the Veil of Our Lady that is in the reliquary is part of the venerated “Sacro Velo della Madonna” or Holy Veil of Our Lady in Assisi.

"In the year 1319 – according to archival documents - the Church of St. Francis was enriched by a priceless treasure, that of the veil of Our Lady offered by Thomas Orsini, Count of Manopello. It is written that this Roman prince, who had been overseas in the last crusade, had acquired it from the Pasha of Damascus, his prisoner of war, who had the veil taken off from a church in Jerusalem. He returned to Italy and having been reduced by a serious illness, he vowed to the saint of Assisi, which his noble family had great devotion to. And having been cured beyond the hope of doctors, came to Assisi and before the altar of the Saint offered the friars the venerable relic which to this day is jealously enshrined in the Basilica, and to which for several times, the Lord has accomplished wonderful things. Of which the citizens of Assisi are wont to resort to the sacred veil of Mary in all public need and every time their city is threatened by some misfortune. "

It is said that St. Joseph of Cupertino, who is famous for his mystical raptures and levitation - lived (as a prisoner) for many years in this convent in Assisi, went into a trance and asked Our Lady if she really had used the veil. Our Lady replied: "Believe me, my son, that's it is my veil, and I used it to wrap the Baby Jesus."

According to tradition, the veil is a gift of the Magi to the Lord. The byssus is a kind of natural sea silk, obtained from a filament that is secreted by bivalve molluscs clinging to the rock, the process of which was developed in the Mediterranean Sea.

The said relic arrived from Italy to the Philippines as a gift to one of the first Italian missionaries in the 1900s and has been authenticated with a certificate by the Bishop of Assisi himself.

Breedon Priory, formerly known as St. Mary and St. Hardulph.

This is a holy place with an authenticated history of Christian worship for over 1300 years. In A.D. 676 an Anglo-Saxon Monastery was established on the hilltop, by Mercian King Aethelred, and for some 200 years this flourished as a centre of culture and crafts.

It was from this building that the remarkable array of Anglo-saxon carved stonework was salvaged, which can be seen in the Church today. But in A.D. 874, the community was attacked by pagan Danish and Norse invaders and buildings looted and despoiled.

The next major step came in A.D. 1122 with the arrival of a Prior and five Canons from Nostell Priory in Yorkshire, who established an Augustian Priory on the site and it is the Nave and North Aisle of this building which survive as the Parish Church of today, restored in later centuries, but still retaining much of its 12th century design and styling.

FAKE 1959 Gibson Les Paul Standard guitar. This replica was sold to a collector as an original 1959 Gibson Les Paul Standard. It is not, It is a VERY good fake. In fact it is a hand made replica, not a reworked Gibson product. I have personally verified thirteen 1959 Gibson Les Paul guitars that a collector bought from a vintage guitar dealer. Don't let this happen to you! Vintage guitar authentication.

NASCAR Hologram to authenticate autographed items...and I suppose other "things". Jeff is making his final start as a NASCAR Sprint Cup driver today. Competing with Kevin Harvick, Kyle Busch and Martin Truex Jr. for the Sprint Cup Championship. I won this Dupont Motor Sports flag, autographed by Jeff Gordon and Chip Foose (who designed his car that year) at an event at the Brickyard 400...several years ago. The hologram can be seen at the far right of his signature.
