Today was a day off, and amongst other things I popped into town with Laura so she could explore some further library augmentation.
We parked in Mount Pleasant Multi Storey (it's cheaper than taking the bus) and from there we spotted this bit of demolition going on. I think this used to be an old factory or warehouse, and it's been there for donkey's years. Why it's being pulled down now I'll never know, though I suspect it may be tied in to redevelopment plans of the huge Copperas Hill Royal Mail complex. I know that they're moving service from there, so perhaps it too will feel the bulldozer's blade before long.
The machine I was most interested in was the blue thing in the top right of frame which appears to be some kind of concrete macerator. Large lumps of rubble go in the top where they seemingly get ground into a much finer rubble which is then carted away. It's a bit like a giant meat mincer, and it's not something I've ever noticed before.

a lovely lady Hylaeus from Kenya, one of the specimens from the Packer lab that did not make it into the upcoming book. It was a very dirty specimen originally, lots of dust and pollen, thank goodness for photoshop. Also experimented with using the augmentation brush to pull light into dark spots, darken off excess eyeshine, and help with pin removal. It feels more and more like darkroom work.
