The 1889 Natural History Museum in Vienna is adjacent to the symmetrically arranged Art History Museum in Vienna, Austria. The Natural History Museum is one of the most important museums in the world, its earliest collections over 250 years old. Both museums are beautifully preserved, with ornate decoration, furniture, and precious exhibits displayed in an old fashion. It can be considered a "museum of museums", because of the classic way in which items are displayed. The two museums were built to house the huge collections of the Hapsburgs, and to make them available to the public. The Natural History Museum is arguably the most beautiful museum Curious Expeditions has ever been to.
Attack Nihon-Ichi is an event in Misato-machi (a little town south of me) where people do a timed race up the largest store staircase in Japan. The staircase itself is 3333 steps, and participants in the race can choose the amount of time they think that they'll complete the climb up and down. The person who finishes closest to their time wins.
Oh and you can wear costumes and such as you race up the stairs. It was really fun!
I did in in about 1 hour and 25 minutes.

Songkran 2012 Bangkok - Songkran Festival, April 12-15, is the traditional Thai New Year. Families and friends gather to celebrate by visiting temples, sprinkling water on Buddha images in reverence, and sprinkling water on each other's hands as an act of wishing good luck. But nowadays Songkran festival is better known for its splashing water madness.
In recent months, with the coming to power of the Hindu Right, attacks on religious minorities have increased greatly. There was a public meeting in Delhi on 27 Sep 2014 to discuss the matter. In the photo, the lawyer Colin Gonsalves speaks.
When taking my previously uploaded picture of Sanders vehicle 206 at Hempstead I took several shots as the bus approached. I didn’t realise at the time, but when deciding which one to use I noticed a strange ball like shape in the sky heading towards a bird. Although they are a bit out of focus I have enlarged and uploaded three of them and they appear to show an unsuccessful attack by a large bird of prey.
Missed again.

This is an interesting movie, and up to par with 1950s quick make, quick-releases SF movies (they were plenty in the shadow of the cold war).
The story involves a husband, a rich wife that sees a UFO which noone believes, great looking snappy eyed girlfriend (Playboy playmate) and a flying saucer that makes the rich wife huge taking revenge on her husband.
Special effects are only at the end of the film (they were difficult and expensive) and the acting capabilities pretty mundane. The Sheriff that shouldn't have been is a case in point.
All in all a good example of this type of movies. Many followed and preceeded it; all included some type of monster, filmed from below to indicate greatness; none of these however matches "The day the earth stood still."

We decided to take a walk to the other end of the beach and were taking silly self-portraits there when a whole family of monkeys came and chased us !!!
Nothing to be afraid of, you'll say, but then you didn't see one of them opening a crab with his bare teeth...
Damned Rosella attacked me within seconds of leaving the car! It was after my daughter's biscuit, and just perched on my shoulder expectantly! All thoughts of pirate impressions only came later...although I was composed enough to take this photo (my camera happened to be in my hand at the time)
Plovers have their work cut out for them. They nest on the ground. Their eggs are exposed to anything that comes along. Although they're well camouflaged, the parent has to actively drive egg thieves away.
Nothing likes eggs more than a monitor lizard, which we call leguawaans in South Africa (anyone got the spelling for me?). After a long session of dive-bombing this lizard, this plover attacked a fish eagle along with some mates. They're utterly fearless.
Irritating little bastards though, if you happen to be walking across a field in which they're nesting.

This is special award produced by Kris Chaplin to commemorate my 11.4km 'Attack the Attack' run/walk.
