This image shows the full Moon of 5 December 2025, a supermoon illuminated at 99.8%.
At this phase, the Moon appeared about 7.7% larger than its average apparent size due to its proximity to perigee.
Its increased brightness and angular diameter made the main lunar maria and craters particularly well defined.
This image of the 5 December 2025 supermoon reveals a subtle chromatic tension between green-leaning and violet-leaning tones.
These hues result from the interplay between diffraction at the lens edges, atmospheric refraction, and the Moon’s own mineral composition.
Regions richer in iron tend to shift the reflected light toward green-olive tones, while areas with higher titanium content naturally push the spectrum toward violet and blue.
Photographed at an optimized horizontal angle, the image maintains this delicate balance of optical forces, allowing each wavelength — and each mineral signature, to assert its presence in the final structure of the photograph.

C/2025 K1: A Whisper of Ice Crossing the Desert Dawn
In the quiet breath of the Arizona dawn, Comet C/2025 K1 drifted across the awakening sky—an ancient traveler sculpted from primordial ice, older than mountains, older than seas, older than the dreams of our species. Through the optics of your Celestron Nexstar 9.25 and the shimmering precision of the Hyperstar, its faint glow became a lesson in cosmic persistence: that every comet is a messenger from the Solar System’s cold nursery, carrying dust older than the Sun itself.
This morning, at Desert Bloom Observatory, your instruments worked as one—guiders, filters, sensors, and mount—each capturing not just light, but story. And the story is this: comets remind us that even the smallest wanderers reshape worlds, seed oceans, and whisper clues about how life first awakened on Earth. Parrot astrology in action
Parrot astrology or Parrot fortune-telling (Tamil: கிளி ஜோசியம்) is a type of astrology popular among the Tamils of Tamil Nadu, India and Singapore. It involves using green parakeets which are trained to pick up Tarot like fortune cards.[1][2]
The parakeets are trained specifically for this. A parrot astrologer/fortune teller typically sits beneath a tree or by the side of the road where people congregate in numbers. He has a cage which contains one or two trained parrots. The tarot like cards are either spread out or stacked in front of him. They are 27 in number representing the Indian cosmic system. Each card contains the image of a Hindu deity and some cards contain images of Buddha or Virgin Mary with Infant Jesus. When a patron sits before the fortune teller, the later opens the cage and lets the parrot out. He instructs the parrot to pick a card for the patron. The parrot walks over to the cards picks one from the stack or the spread with its beak and gives it to the astrologer. It then walks back inside its cage. The astrologer opens the card and based on the image tells the fortune of the patron.[2][1]
Eleven Embers from an Ancient Stone
Captured in a single exposure from Desert Bloom Observatory, this image records eleven Geminid meteors slicing through the winter sky—brief flames born of cosmic debris left behind by asteroid 3200 Phaethon. Unlike most meteor showers that originate from comets, the Geminids arise from rocky fragments, producing meteors that are slower, brighter, and richly colored. White streaks dominate, while subtle hues of orange and red reveal differences in speed, temperature, and elemental composition as each particle vaporizes in Earth’s atmosphere.
In 2025, the Geminids stand as the year’s finest meteor display—reliable, intense, and resilient—peaking under favorable conditions and reminding us that even ancient stones can still write fire across the sky.
