Renk has been at high risk of conflict related displacement since the beginning of the conflict in 2013. The region is currently hosting three main camps for displaced population: Abayok (5,000 residents) and Wunthau (2,000) were conceived as transit sites but they have endured as the returnees have not been able or willing to return to their areas for origin; and Payuer is home to nearly 2,000 IDPs who fled the shelling in Jodha last year.

Oh well, can't cross until after the train is out of the intersection so I might as well take more photos. This one includes the first of two "helper" NS diesel locomotives on our train. They are there to assist #630 pull the long, 12 car train up some of the tougher grades or to do all of the pulling in the (hopefully) unlikely event of a breakdown. We will be on the NS mainline for the full trip and blocking the freight train traffic would be a major problem.

Assistant Secretary of the Army for Installations, Energy and Environment, the Honorable Katherine Hammack visits Area I on a tour of garrisons that will take her across Korea from the DMZ to Daegu.
Ms. Hammack is the primary advisor to the Secretary of the Army on installation policy, energy security and environmental initiatives. She is touring Army camps and facilities here, and she will be meeting with both Army and installation management senior leaders as part of her oversight of installation policy for Department of the Army.

At least, I assume that this is the assistant and the previous guy was the main photographer. She wasn't bossing people around all over the place, and she got the slightly more dangerous job of going up on the roof get high shots. And she had fewer cameras dangling off of her.
