Over 60 people gathered on The Plaza, Kansas City's famous "upscale" shopping district, with its famous fountain historically known for peaceful public assembly of various social and political issues. The rally program was MC'd by Navy Veteran, Jeff Johnson. Speakers included: Dr. Yolanda Huet-Vaughn, famed conscientious objector court-martialed for refusing to serve in Operation Desert Storm. Also, Tom Klammer, consistent public supporter of WikiLeaks and Bradley Maning, host of "Tell Somebody" on KKFI, Kansas City's community run radio station. Local poets, William Peck, Rachel Asbury, and Ron Faust also spoke. Dozens of supporters stayed through sunset holding signs and banners by the side of the busy shopping district's main intersection.

When you have a half-dozen or more fawns to bottle feed, a little ingenuity helps. A five-gallon bucket has been rigged to place several nursing stations around it. The fawn in the middle has lost much of its hair because it was kept illegally and fed cow's milk. It's getting the proper formula now, even warmed prior to feeding, and the hair is starting to come back. If you find an injured or orphaned wild animal, get it to a licensed rehabber asap. Taken at WildCareOklahoma near Noble.

Snapshots taken during the Assemblies of WIPO Member States, which met from October 4-8, 2021. The WIPO Assemblies 2021 were held in a hybrid format, with delegates and observers attending physically in Geneva, Switzerland, and via remote participation from around the world. The Organization put in place a number of measures to ensure the safety and well-being of all participants considering the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

The kit and its assembly:
My third contribution to the “RAF Centenary” Group Build at whatifmodelers.com, and the next one in chronological order. This one was spawned by the simple thought of “What would a Spitfire with a radial engine look like…?”. I have seen this stunt done in the form of a Fw190/Spitfire kitbash – nice result, but it did IMHO just not look like a “real” Spitfire with a radial engine, rather like an Fw 190 with elliptical wings. And the fact that I had already successfully transplanted a Centaurus engine onto a P-51 airframe made me feel positive that the stunt could be done!
Consequently, the conversion was pretty straightforward. The basis is a Revell 1:72 Spitfire VB (1996 mold), which was – except for the nose section – taken OOB. A simple, nice kit, even though it comes with some flaws, like a depression at the rear of the wing/fuselage intersection and the general need for PSR – not much, but I expected a better fit for such a relatively young mold?
For the engine, I used a personal replacement favorite, the cowling and the engine block from a Mitsubishi A6M2 “Zero” (Hasegawa). The Nakajima Sakae radial engine has a relatively small diameter, so that it serves well as a dummy for the compact Bristol Taurus engine – a replacement I have already used for a radial-powered Westland Whirlwind. The other benefit of the small diameter is that it is relatively easy to blend the round front end into the oval and very slender fuselage of the early Spitfire airframe. This was realized through massive body sculpting from scratch with 2C putty, widening the area in front of the cockpit and expanding its width to match the cowling – I guess that real life engineers would have followed a similar, simple path.
Since the radial engine would not need a radiator, I simple omitted this piece (cut out from the single piece lower wing half) and faired the respective underwing area over with a piece of styrene sheet and PSR. The asymmetrical oil cooler was retained, though. The propeller is a replacement from the scrap box, with a smaller diameter spinner and more slender blades which better suit the open cowling.
Since the Taurus had its best performance at low altitudes, I used the Revell kit’s OOB option of clipped wing tips – a move that makes the aircraft look much faster, esp. with the new, deeper nose section.

Front fork assembly is made out of a pair of minifig arms and some skeleton hands.
Wanted to do try something different, other than that black motorcycle frame that usually fits inside...

The best thing about visiting China in the winter is that you basically have a real good shot at having these caves all to yourself..
I spent hours in here and really enjoyed the peacefulness and amazing spectacle the cave offers with out the crowds and noisy tour groups..
Well, make that....A LOT of assembly. In this scene, WW&F volunteers (L-R) Dan Ditullio, Wayne Laepple and Rick Sisson work on the rear frame assembly for the new Locomotive #11 that the museum is building. In this scene, the trio is preparing to drill some holes which will be used to bolt the frame together, at least temporarily. In some cases, the bolts will later be replaced with rivets. The crew is using a drill with a magnetic mount, which can be positioned against a steel surface, and then securely locked to that surface with a powerful electro-magnet.
Of interest in the background in this photo is the restoration going on with Bridgton Boxcar #56, under the leadership of long-time volunteer Marcel Levesque. This car was donated to the WW&F by the Maine Narrow Gauge Railroad Company and Museum, and will be used by the WW&F as a tool car and on photo freights. On this particular day, Marcel was in the process of hanging a new sliding door on the side of the car.

Here is Assembly Ape. He likes bananas, funnily enough, and being Assembly, he had to go that extra bit further and built a massive Lego structure of a banana... Well, he is an ape!
