The opening ceremony of this weekend's OHA conference. The canoes brought the kapuna (elders) and pohaku (stone) from each of the 12 districts to the meeting place for the beginning of the Hawaiian meetings.

I am in the stroker sea of "Amelika Uiloa" (America the Beautiful), bringing the kapuna and pohaku from Kaupo district of Maui.

A selection of the hand-painted, cut and assembled paper dolls I made in the latest months. All handmade and one of a kind. Few of them still available in my Etsy shop :)

there is a lot of shapes that can be made with this unit!

I recreated the Avengers movie poster with the Hasbro 6" Avengers movie figures. Required photographing each figure in front of a green screen, posing them in the exact same poses as the characters in the poster, and lighting them the same way too. I then super imposed them into the poster, painted over the characters that were originally on there, and did some levels adjusting to get them all looking right and to add depth in the image.

Deboxing my Pullip Dal Tinker Bell 10'' Doll. The seal is broken, and the inner box is removed from the outer box. Tinker Bell and all her accessories are attached to the inner box. There is an instruction sheet for assembling the doll stand on top of the inner box.

Review of Pullip Dal Tinker Bell 10'' Fashion Doll

The Pullip Dal Tinker Bell doll is a smaller version of a regular Pullip (which is about 12'' tall). She is 10'' tall, about the same height as the Disney Store and Disney Parks Tinker Bells. She was originally released in 2009, and is made by Groove. She is based on the Peter Pan animated version Tinker Bell, rather than on the Disney Fairies version. I love her little pout! The packaging is also beautiful.

She comes with many accessories, which have to be assembled. This means that she isn't really meant to be displayed in her box. The accessories include a doll stand, a large green cloth bow for her hair, a purse with a green vine strap, a stiff character card with a large portrait image of the doll, and on the reverse information about the doll (mostly in Korean). Finally she has a set of beautiful purple mesh wings, that are decorated with yellow jewels. It snaps onto the back of her dress. It keeps its shape very well, due to having a wired border. She has a very nice outfit that is close in design to the animated character. Her satin dress is one piece, with the bodice sewn to her leaf skirt, which is decorated with tiny silver beads. She has white mesh tights, worn over green cloth panties. Her iconic shoes are green velvet, with fluffy white pom poms.

As with all Pullip dolls, her head is about twice as large as would be proportional to her body, and she has a small mouth and nose and very large eyes. Her lips are light pink, and are in a closed mouth pout. She has rooted eyelashes, but her blonde hair is a wig. Her glassy blue green eyes can move side to side by the use of a lever hidden under her hair in the back of her head, just above her neck. Unlike regular sized Pullip dolls, the Pullip Dal dolls cannot blink their eyes. She has a greater degree of articulation than even the Disney Store Designer Tinker Bell. But her head can only swivel about, and not tilt. Her skin is much paler than either the Designer Tink or Parks Tink. Her overall look is that of a woodland sprite.

I am very pleased with my first Pullip doll, and will very likely get more of them.

Purchase Details

I got my very first Pullip doll, the Pullip Dal Disney Tinker Bell 10''. I got her brand new from Amazon. I ordered her last Thursday (April 16, 2015). She currently costs $80 and with Amazon Prime shipping was free and took only two days from ordering to arrival!

Crews will use three, 500-ton cranes to hoist girders into place over I-5. The cranes are so large they are delivered in pieces and assembled on site. The size of the crane gives a little perspective to the scale of the upcoming construction work. We’ll use three of these monster cranes to install the 175,000 lb. girders over I-5.

I-5 will be closed in Vancouver from 11 p.m. Friday, June 7, to 5 a.m. Monday, June 10. www.wsdot.wa.gov/Projects/I5/ne134thi205/_I5Closure.htm

I got to ride it to work yesterday due to the great weather we have had the last couple of days. It felt great. I understand a bit more how great a bike can feel when custom fit for you.

NASA image of the assembly of the first flight-intended Orion capsule (scheduled to be launched in early December of 2014).

Original caption: The last major assembly operation to prepare Orion for its first flight in December is complete. The ogive panels, which protect the crew module from sound and vibration during ascent, are now installed around the spacecraft just below the Launch Abort System tower. Orion will roll out to the launch pad early in November to be mated with the Delta IV Heavy launch vehicle. Orion’s first uncrewed test flight will reach an altitude of 3,600 miles above the Earth's surface. The two-orbit, four-hour flight test will help engineers evaluate the systems critical to crew safety and mission success including the heat shield, parachute system and key separation events.

The Elsa Maquette fully deboxed and assembled.

The Elsa Maquette Reproduction Figurine is produced by Enesco, and is part of the new Walt Disney Archives Collection. The new collection is being produced by the same team that made the WDCC figurines, and in a way replaces that now discontinued line. She was previewed at the D23 Expo in August 2015. I pre-ordered her in early September and received her in early December. She is a resin figure with a separate base, and is a numbered limited edition collectible. Mine is #425 of 5000, which is numbered in a CoA (called a Certificate of Verification), as well as under the base. She is based on one of the maquettes used in the making of Disney's Frozen. She is Elsa in her Snow Queen persona, in a dramatic pose, with her long sweeping cape behind her. She is a beautiful and accurate depiction of the animated character. She costs $350, and is still available from various Disney art and collectibles dealers.

She stands 9.5 inches tall from her heels to the top of her head, or about 10.5 to the top of her raised hand. The figure on the base measures about 15 inches long, 8 inches wide and 11 inches high. The total weight is about 7.5 pounds. Her cape is covered in iridescent glitter, which does shed a little bit. There are minor paint flaws in her eyes and hair, and left hand is slightly separated from her arm. I don't think they detract from the look of the piece. I consider her a piece of the movie itself (as a replica prop), and am very glad to have bought her.

Le Grand Rassemblement is a work of nature-art unique in the world that changes continuously. Created by Marcel Gagnon a little at a time, it was used to develop his own style. It is when he started to paint his characters that he decided to shape them in to sculptures. Inspired by the sea and the tides, he integrates his work of art in the St-Lawrence river.

I've been wanting to do some Avengers shots with the toys for a while. Now that they're all out, it's time to start!
