Assemblage is a form of art using different objects arranged to create a sculpture. My favourite pieces are made from otherwise unwanted scrap items.

Hier möchte man nicht Staubwischen: Merzbau nannte der Dichter und bildende Künstler Kurt Schwitters (* 20. Juni 1887 in Hannover) das raumfüllende Kunstwerk, das er vermutlich 1923 in seiner Wohnung in Hannover zu errichten begann.
Die am Ende riesenhafte Installation des Merzbau mit Assemblage-Charakter nahm ihren Anfang in Schwitters' Atelier und wucherte über die Jahre bis zu dessen Wegzug nach Norwegen im Jahr 1937 in die benachbarten Räume der Wohnung und über das Stockwerk hinaus. Im Sommer 1932 nahm Schwitters einen weiteren Merzbau in einer Hütte auf der norwegischen Insel Hjertøya bei Molde in Angriff.
Keines dieser Werke hat vollständig überlebt. Der Merzbau in Hannover wurde 1943 mit Schwitters' Haus bei einem Luftangriff auf Hannover von einer Brandbombe zerstört, heute ist nur noch diese Rekonstruktion im Sprengel-Museum Hannover zu besichtigen. (Quelle: wikipedia)
You don't want to dust here: The poet and visual artist Kurt Schwitters (* 20 June 1887 in Hanover) called Merzbau the room-filling work of art that he probably began to erect in 1923 in his apartment in Hanover.
The giant installation of the Merzbau with its assemblage character at the end began in Schwitters'; studio and grew over the years until his departure for Norway in 1937 into the neighboring rooms of the apartment and beyond the floor. In the summer of 1932 Schwitters started another Merzbau in a hut on the Norwegian island of Hjertøya near Molde.
None of these works survived completely. The Merzbau in Hanover was destroyed by a fire bomb in 1943 with Schwitters'; house during an air raid on Hanover, today only this reconstruction can be seen in the Sprengel Museum Hanover. (Source: wikipedia)
