There used to be fish in this lake but the population of little lizards took over. They eat the fish eggs. The lake used to be stocked but because of the multitude of lizards they gave up on it.

Precariously perched on the falls which spill above the Crystal River, this is perhaps one of the most famous structures in all of Colorado. The famed Crystal Mill once served as a hydraulic pump house for the silver mining operations deep in the mountains above Marble Colorado.

This beaver was in this tree almost all day about 30' behind my camper!

After playing hide & seek with us in the late afternoon, Mt. Adams finally reveales itself. Considering it was a blue bird day when we arrived there, I'd say the clouds cooperated nicely.

If it were a perfect world, I would gladly leave my normally unobtrusive watermark off in a corner. But sadly, it is not. And so I am forced to now place it front & center to discourage dishonest people from image theft and cropping watermarks. My apologies to image loving fans everywhere...I trust you will understand. Help fight this by reporting such abuses immediately!

My son, daughter and I were shooting in Rocky Mountain National Park and as we began to head out of an Aspen grove, Bonnie turned to find a Moose walking straight toward her at about 4 feet away. Startled, she didn't get the shot as she came face to face with it. My son signaled to me and, seeing the antlers pass over the bush I was behind on the trail, I turned and focused on a clearing that I knew it would pass through.

This scene captures everything I love about Bishop Canyon--aspens, that gorgeous, cascade-y creek, and steep granite slopes that are so characteristic of the eastern sierras. This was near Surveyor's Meadow on the south fork of Bishop Canyon.

Hearing the "Who Cooks for You?" call of this male Barred Owl (Strix varia) echo through the forest was truly amazing. A life bird for me, seeing him was very special. Its signature brown and white barred plumage was beautiful and gave it perfect camouflage. This experience was shared with some wonderful friends while visiting Sax-Zim Bog in northeastern Minnesota in early March.

Finally I have found a shot that I really LOVE!!!!

Take me down the lazy river and allow me to smell the air of Fall with Winter on its heels...

Good morning everyone. Last night I was cruising through a folder of Teton images and came across a series of pano shots that were taken at Schwabachers Landing and decided to see how they turned out and this was the result. Hit L to view Large.

Some have asked how to go about purchasing some of my images and so here are the details:

Email: debydixon@me.com

All of my images are for sale in print form and most are available for stock, though some are spoken for. For prints I work with a printer that does an excellent job and provides outstanding customer service - R & R Color Labs in Spokane, WA - and they ship directly to the customer. At present my prices are quite reasonable and affordable for everyone. Stock image customers must provide a contract that runs one to two years and describes exactly how the image will be used.

When I began photography it was exciting when someone liked an image well enough to use it for publication and I was okay with just having my name in lights. But as time has gone on and I have invested more in equipment, software and traveling, I began to see the value of my images, my time and my efforts. I no longer find it flattering when someone offers to put my name in lights in exchange for using an image, especially when they are going to make a profit. Them $$ for my work, me zero - that makes no sense at all. I have, do and will, donate images to certain non-profit organizations but choose them carefully. Students who are writing for one of those online news sites in order to make some extra money are not on my list. It galls me when people value their product enough to find a quality image to use for its advertisement but they don't value the photographer's work enough to put a price on the photo. Unfortunately one of the reasons that they don't value the photographer's time and expense is because there are so many people who give away their images. Buyers, if you can get an image cheaper somewhere else, go for it, you get what you pay for. My customers all experience fast, quality service and will generally receive the photo within an hour or two after making the request, and with all documents signed.

Travel and nature photography is a hard, lonely business and the rewards are not cheap. The hours are long, beginning before dawn and ending sometime after midnight, because there is shooting, driving, downloading, sorting, editing, etc. I love what I am doing but in order to continue bringing these images to you, my products need to produce income.

This clarification is due to some recent inquiries and not for solicitation purposes.

the dirt mountain roads lead the way for the adventurer thru glimmering golden aspens and strong ponderosa pines… offering full immersion into nature and wildlife. feeling at home, at one with mother nature – there is no better place on earth than in the forest, on a mountain road, searching one’s soul and finding so much more.

Aspens trunks in the early fall are rather striking against the coming full fall colors. I had to turn around and go back for these.

Colorado Aspen Trees at Washington Gulch, Crested Butte

This was taken in July near Crested Butte. It was wet and muddy, but the cloud cover gave nice soft light.

I hope everyone had a great weekend full of adventures! This is another shot from my adventure to the Eastern Sierras back in October. After watching an amazing sunrise I wandered around this cool aspen grove until the sun came peeking through!

This is a single RAW image edited in Lightroom 4.

Oak Glen is a hidden gem up in the foothills near our town of Redlands, CA. Never does it look better than in the fall when the leaves are turning and the apple orchards are being picked of their sweet fruit.
