Using a macro lens this morning as I walk with camera and monopod.
The blue comes from the Cascade mountain range.
My joy. Thanks for looking.

My favorite place in all the world is the San Juan mountains of Colorado. This is one fine autumn morning as the clouds lifted off the mountains.
THANKS for the visit.

The whisper of the aspens is not drowned,
And over lightless pane and footless road,
Empty as sky, with every other sound
Not ceasing, calls their ghosts from their abode,

Aspen Tree by Little Branch
I love rainy days and the way the now-larger and fuller trembling aspen leaves catch drops.
Comments not expected. I post photos that I might print. However, one photo drive wouldn't boot this morning, but the backup peripheral drives worked fine. Shutting all down to reboot.

Maroon Bells is called one of the most stunning outdoor settings in North America and it's on the bucket list of many photographers "with a burning desire to capture their own version of Maroon Lake" according to Laurent Martrès, from the book Photographing the Southwest. I was one of them!
We visited the area around Maroon Lake with a (at that time) obligated shuttle service from Aspen Highlands. It was very busy there indeed, but I was glad I had the chance to see all the overwhelming beauty, though it was only for a few hours.
Thank you for taken your time to visit me, comments or faves are always much appreciated!
I was looking out my southfacing window and caught a flash of bright colors from my easter window. I looked out to see not one but two male Western Tanager and then their mates. We don't often get these colorful birds at our house, so I was very happy to see and snap this picture of one in my small aspen tree.
that you could never have dreamed them. This is one of those scenes.
Grand Mesa yesterday after an early snowfall adorned the Autumn scene.

At this time of year, I have noticed that the low evening sun shines through a gap at the bottom of the valley and illuminates a group of aspen trees, making them glow with light.
The trees are to the right of centre, with woodlands in shadow behind them.
Even though it has been 40 years since I lived there, the beauty of the Aspen Colorado area still haunts my dreams and memories.
San Juan Mountains | Million Dollar Highway, Colorado
This image was taken on a trip near the famous Million Dollar Highway, which is part of the San Juan Skyway and one of the most beautiful roads I have seen. The scenery was breathtaking with stunning views one after the other. There are no safety measures on this road, no guardrails and shoulders or whatsoever and some dangerous drop-offs on parts of the road.
We had just stopped at Silverton for gas when I noticed the beautiful light and clouds forming above the San Juan Mountains. My husband filled only half of the gas tank seeing my face ;). We continued our drive while hoping that the forests that only gave a glimpse of the beautiful mountain views would open up soon. We got lucky when suddenly a small park came up. I rushed out of the car and was able to catch a few shots of the mountains in the last beautiful light.
Prints are available for purchase on my website directly from the photos page.

Compositionally Challenged Week 39 - Triangles and Diagonals
In addition to the changing leaves, we were happy to see a herd of bighorn sheep and a single moose. No photo ops, though. Maybe next time! : )
