I came here to paint, but the silence said more than the brush ever could.

In real life, I’ve been carrying a weight I can’t explain.

So I sit still, pretending that mixing colors might fix something inside me.

Maybe it won't. But for a moment, I get to feel quiet

and that’s enough.

Here's a detail shot of progress on the "ArT" painting. The image area of the painting within this painting is just about three inches (7.5 cm) wide.

got a ways to go on this Cocker Spaniel's portrait in Prisma color pencil, and yes his name is actually JOE COCKER. .

More changes, more artwork added..

Won't be much longer I guess..

Bottom stone.The Courses

Stone lithography courses are organised several times a year both at weekends and on weekdays. They are suitable for artists with or without previous experience of printmaking . Typically, participants are art students, art teachers, college lecturers, serious amateurs and professional artists in other media. As the number of places on the courses is kept to a maximum of four, each participant is encouraged to explore the medium in the way which is most appropriate to his or her own interests and experience, ranging from an introduction to the main technical processes of stone lithography, including preparation of stones, principal drawing and painting techniques and materials and printing skills, to more specialised subjects such as colour and transfer lithography. Other course formats and dates are negotiable: for example, a recent one day course was run for curators from the Word & Image Department of the V&A Museum.

Trying colored pencils again. All those leaves...who says that using colored pencils is relaxing?

I still recall the painting that I was working on. it was a peaceful little imaginary landscape with a small lake in the center. Imagine that. Sadly this little work is long, long lost, but my mind's eye sees it clearly to this day.

I probably will be able to ship again art/merchandise in May. Do you prefer I list new items to Etsy or Bigcartel? Or Instagram?

this color pencil piece began with a graphite sketch . . then I added the yellow undertones. . ..this takes it to the halfway point the rest is in detailing . the finished product , my image to the right

I'm not so much into the 'Witch meme', all the illustrations I have done with witches were requests or commissions (mainly tattoo design commissions :) ). This is one of those illustrations. Anyway, I like it and even if it's a work in progress, I think I probably draw teen witches more :D

Getting ready for Free Radical Galleries 2010

These are my new Open Acrylics. Golden has a suggested six color palette. They are in the closest row with Bone Black to the left. I use black sparingly, but do like to have it available. Many of the colors in the second tier will be used and perhaps not replaced. They were purchased before I discovered the basic six color scheme. In the last row I've got The five iridescent colors that are available in Open Acrylics. The two tubes on the right are Fine Silver and Stainless Steel Golden iridescent colors from their standard line. They can be mixed with the Open Acrylics, but will dry more quickly, of course.

I am determined to keep the number of colors down. In that way I can get the economy of buying the larger tubes. Also, I can now put several colors on my palette and work freely without having to worry about everything just up and drying within an hour. When I painted with alkyds I used a similar palette that W+N had suggested. It worked very well. See my notes about the colors.
