Line astern taxying to stand after landing at Glasgow Prestwick Airport on Friday 19.6.2015

After the Airshow at Blackpool the Red Arrows were stabled at Blackpool Airport. Thanks to the ideas of Ian and Kall Evans for the quick change of location the sun just held for the take off. The first 3 arrows depart and in the background are the rest on the runway waiting their turn to go.

Prima prova di lunga esposizione notturna

No idea what it originally was, but a giant arrow will always get my attention.

I know, another photo from our weekend away. I really hope you don't mind ;-)

Happy Roid week. :)

3-D targets also contain iron, for example in the leg of a deer. If an arrow hits it, the tip will be flattened and the shaft can splinter

A female Arrow-shaped Micrathena, Micrathena sagittata, from Lizard Tail Swamp Preserve (TNC), New Jersey, USA, on September 30, 2017. This species is a real challenge to photograph, as usually the web location precludes even a view like this...and your flash often overwhelms the shiny, pale abdomen.

Once upon a time men expressed individual taste by selecting stick pins to hold down their ties. These took all manner of decorative form and were quite the work of art. I inherited my grandfather's stick pin, and my wife's grandfather's stick pin which served as the start of a small collection of these little art works. Here is one in the shape of an arrowhead for this week's theme.

HMM!!!

The Red Arrows put on a fabulous display at the Scottish Airshow at East Fortune on the Saturday.

This was a bit of an accident. I was playing around with many options on this old bottle we had in the house, which had a LOT of arrows on it.. I decided to pour beer in the bottle, and it resulted in a foamy mess, which resulted in this. I then accidentally over adjusted the saturation, but then liked it. My original choice was to go for black and white. Hope you all see the arrow!

Also visible here is an Amtrak platform gondola, which is positioned on Track 1 allowing trains to board from the express track while maintenance work is being performed.

I did this shot to imitate the popular look often used in "superhero" productions. I like the play of light and shadow, and the hint of mystery provided by the anonymous hood. The focus here is on the lips, with the hint of one eye shown by the lashes. This kind of shot is much easier to pull off when using the wi-fi remote shooting on my 6D and the Cascable app that gives me a lot of control over the the camera.
