Some more scenic shots to start 2013. I am lucky enough to live very close to Arrow Valley Park in Redditch, but until now had neglected it's familiar scenery on my photostream (ok these shots are from November 2012, but I thought they'd be a nicer way to kick off the new year!).

Unusual traction on this, EWS 67017 " Arrow " with a train from , I think, Southampton Western Docks to Eastleigh east yard.

My wife, my brother and I visited the North Carolina Rural Heritage Center in Laurinburg, NC. The museum is in the former foundry where John Blue Ag equipment was manufactured. The display pictured is Indian arrow heads and they have an extremely large collection.

Avro Arrow CF-105 Delta-wing interceptor aircraft, designed and built by Avro Aircraft Considered to be both an advanced technical and aerodynamic achievement for the Canadian aviation industry, the CF-105 held the promise of Mach 2 speeds at 50,000 ft+ altitude, and was intended to serve as the Royal Canadian Air Force’s interceptor for the 1960s and beyond.

Following the start of its flight test program in 1958, the Arrow, and its accompanying Orenda Iroquois jet engine program, were abruptly cancelled in 1959, sparking a long and bitter political debate. The Arrow is still the subject of controversy, almost 50 years after it was cancelled.

This was supposed to be the new Palm Springs, with moneyed tourists flocking to the Salton Sea for skiing, fishing, and lounging in the desert sun. It almost worked, too. For about 20 years, the area thrived as more and more people discovered the rugged, arid area and fell in love with it. Many bought vacation homes, towed their trailers and boats, and planned to stay awhile. However, a series of devastating floods in the early 70's caused most of the people -- the faint hearted, some locals would say -- to leave in search of better playgrounds, and the party for the Salton Sea was over.

The Red Arrows was doing a show in newcastle Co Down Northern ireland, while i was not in newcastle its self i was near tyrella beach watching the desplay, and even from my point of view it was great.

glad i had my 400mm.
