is one of my favorite places in New Mexico. I was there several times and I'm fascinated by this place in the middle of nowhere.

The Very Large Array (VLA) is a radio astronomy observatory located on the Plains of San Agustin, between the towns of Magdalena and Datil, some fifty miles (80 km) west of Socorro, New Mexico, USA. U.S. Route 60 passes through the complex, which is adjacent to the Boy Scout Double H High Adventure Base. The VLA stands at an elevation of 6970 ft (2124 m) above sea level. It is a component of the National Radio Astronomy Observatory (NRAO).

A close-up of the crossed dipoles of the Jicamarca main array, on a very misty morning. The distance between the poles is approx. 3m, to match the 50 MHz frequency of the radar.

Friday, January 24, 2019, offered a array of evening entertainment options on the Mount Hermon Campus; boys' varsity basketball action versus the New Hampton School (NMH wins 93-85); faculty art show opening at The Gallery; Dick Peller's annual Hot Stove League with ESPN's Buster Olney '82 and Sarag Langs, Rob Bradford from radio WEEI and Galen Carr '93 from the LA Dodgers; and an NMH Percussion Day concert in the Chiles Theater. Presented here is a photographic sampling from each event from the camera of Glenn Minshall.

Wendy and are celebrating our 4 year anniversary in TorC by leaving

this little town more often to explore New Mexico. This week we drove

to our nearby radio telescope array. This was a day trip wit Sesame.

The same VLA (Very Large Array) was featured in the book / movie

"Contact" by Carl Sagan. It's hard to spend over 30 minutes there as

there is only a 1/4 mile walk, small gallery and store. If you are

fortunate enough to go on the correct weekends in the Spring/Fall

which overlap the Trinity site opening you can get a full guided tour

of the facility. Sesame came along for the ride - she goes everywhere

as she is now a official therapy dog.

Graham Snowden arranged circles and lines (or zeros and ones) at various angles and invites us to look from various angles and see what we can find. I found "lalilo" from one direction.

On Waiheke Island in the Hauraki Gulf near Auckland New Zealand, The Headland "Sculpture on the Gulf" exhibition was spread out around the cliff tops overlooking the sea.
