The Seehund is the 2nd largest vessel in the Legodtenstein Coast Guard Service's fleet. The vessel has ample room for replacement navigation buoys as well as an open area for the maintenance of buoys whilst in situ. The vessel is equipped with a wide array of tools to facilitate any repairs to the buoys.

Outre is a unique event: a distinctly altered theatrical world where music hall meets end of the pier freak show meets ghost train: a disturbing but extraordinary beautiful place within which Darren Johnstons powerful choreography for his company of six dancers exists in all its startling, haunting originality. In a half-lit haze on a monochrome stage a chanteuse sings a fragmented lyric: a woman in a hooped frock has a mannequins face:

a salsa dancer twitches to radio static and a Japanese ghost-girl gyrates in falling rain. All appear in their black-and-white world somewhere on the edge of consciousness.

With commissioned music from Christian Vogel and Warp artists including Jamie Lidell and Tyondai Braxton (Battles), Darren Johnston has created a seamless unity of live performance, music and visual design in a way that engages on a myriad of sensory levels to manipulate, persuade and above all, enthrall.

I've been working on the separators for the cells in my 16x24 RGB LED array. Finally almost done, need to trim the ends of some of the pieces to the correct length.

Karl G. Jansky Very Large Array, New Mexico, United States

This is a photo of the radio telescope of the Karl G. Jansky Very Large Array, taken on a self-guided tour during a clear but windy day in New Mexico. Here, the antennae were in the process of changing their orientation—shortly after this photo was taken, the two nearest antennae were pointed almost straight up, like the others in the background. Astronomers at the VLA use the radio telescope to detect radio waves that are emitted by celestial objects in our galaxy, and then use that information to learn about the characteristics of those objects.

KA ‘IMIMOANA, Hawaiian for Ocean Seeker, was originally built as the U.S. Naval Ship TITAN (T-AGOS 15) in 1989 by Halter Marine in Moss Point, Mississippi. TITAN was operated by the Military Sealift Command (MSC) as an Ocean Surveillance Ship until her transfer to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) on August 31, 1993. Conversion to her present configuration began in May, 1995 at Maritime Contractors, Inc Shipyard in Bellingham, Washington, and she was redelivered to NOAA as KA‘IMIMOANA in April 1996. The vessel is operated by NOAA's Office of Marine and Aviation Operations. (OMAO) and is homeported in Honolulu, Hawaii.

KA‘IMIMOANA primarily supports the research programs of NOAA's Tropical Atmosphere-Ocean (TAO) Project. These programs are designed to improve our understanding of the role of the tropical ocean in modifying the world's climate. The ship deploys, recovers, and services deep sea moorings that measure ocean currents, ocean temperatures, and atmospheric variables, throughout the equatorial Pacific Ocean (TAO Array location map). In addition to buoy measurements, which are transmitted in real time to the NOAA Pacific Marine Environmental Laboratory (PMEL) in Seattle, the ship measures upper ocean currents, surface salinity, carbon dioxide content, and takes upper air atmospheric soundings while underway. A census of barnacles and marine life that inhabit the recovered moorings and the periodic replacement of undersea hydrophone moorings used to locate undersea spreading centers and hydrothermal vents on the East Pacific Rise is also conducted on an ongoing basis.

View of the EME/Satellite array. The 2 horizontally polarized 2m beams are M^2 2M9SSB antennas, while the small cheap looking vertically polarized 70cm antenna is a WA5ZVB "cheap yagi" built of #10 solid copper wire and PVC pipe. It ain't pretty but it works. The whole array is rotated by an Alfa Spid RAS Az-El rotator

Another use for recycled hard disk platters -- the centre electrode of this capacitor array is a platter from an ancient 133mm hard drive. Probably a ten megabyte MFM. The negative terminals of the capacitors are bolted to holes drilled around the periphery of the platter. Positive terminals are wired together using wire abandoned at a jobsite by contractors. Seperate bits of wire come off of each cap and are all run together to one wire that is shorted to the platter to make the spark.

The Combined Array for Research in Millimeter-wave Astronomy (CARMA) was an astronomical instrument comprising 23 radio telescopes. These telescopes formed an astronomical interferometer where all the signals are combined in a purpose-built computer (a correlator) to produce high-resolution astronomical images. The telescopes ceased operation in April 2015 and were relocated to the Owens Valley Radio Observatory for storage.
