THANKS FOR YOUR VISIT AND FAVES
ON THE REACTIONS I WILL TRY TO RESPOND BACK

Several units of the Fire Support Command to attend the swearing-in
The inauguration is one of the most important events in the career of a soldier. The soldier speaks it that they promise allegiance to the King, obedience to the laws and submission to the discipline. What the military actually pronounce that he / she is at the service of his country, even under the most difficult circumstances, that he will abide by the rules that we have agreed with each other and that he will defend well. Above all, the men and women promise that their comrades in all circumstances can count on them.
Oath or Promise is addressed to the Dutch people and the military colleagues. Therefore therefore decided to carry out the swearing center of society during the Army Day 2016.
It's hard to believe that someone could drive unscathed through that lot! Bottom right hand corner you can just see the madman who did.

Soldiers in US Army uniforms, circa 1850, prepare to fire a 12 pound Mountain Howitzer during Army Days at Fort Tejon in Kern County California. The bronze 12 pound mountain howitzer, originally classified for mountain service, was in fact a light field piece of great mobility for use in all kinds of rough terrain. This little brute could shoot the same ammunition as the 12-pounder field howitzer and the 12-pounder Napoleon (except for solid shot). It was made on three different types of carriages the First Model Prairie Carriage, Second Model Prairie Carriage and the Pack Carriage. This cannon is on the pack carriage and is "packable" on 3 mules and available to move with a fast paced cavalry unit.
This cannon model was not only used at Fort Tejon in the 1850's but by US cavalry units from the Mexican War (1846-1848) through the Civil War (1860 1865) and Indian Wars. Small cannon... big boom.

It's Army Day in Armenia today!
The helmet and the bulletproof vest were in my room in Afghanistan. Of course, I tried them on. When else would I have a chance to do that next time?! Man, heavy they were! Half of my weight, I bet!
I hope that one day people wear these things out of pure curiosity, like me, and not for any other reason. I believe that there is only one way to fight terrorism and separatism, particularly in Muslim world, and that way is EDUCATION.
Thanks for your visit and have a great day! Happy Army Day, Armenia, and peace for all!
P.S. The book in the photo is called "Three Cups of Tea", by Greg Mortenson. I'll start it next week!
One of the highlights of Army Days at Fort Tejon State Historical Park near Lebec California is the firing of this small artillery piece. It may look small but it is powerful.
