Prato is close to several of Europe’s most significant cities and esteemed institutions – thirty minutes from Florence and the European University Institute in Fiesole, one hour from Bologna – home to Europe’s oldest university, two hours from Rome, and three hours from Milan.
This building in HaTishbi Street on Mount Carmel is an international style with traditional details designed in the Art nouveau spirit (like the trifora-metamorphosed into a vertical stairway window).
After the Arab owners left during the 1948 war, only a decade after building their home, the evacuated kids of Shaar Ha’Golan kibbutz were housed in this building for a few months. Later new immigrants, some of them holocaust survivors moved in to this building and other buildings in the area. So many human tragedies in about 10 years.
It is also a part of a survey and a preservation list I do for the Israeli council for preservation and restoration.
This was the only picture I took of the Castle! We didn't have time to go inside to look around! Shame!!!

This is Nidarosdomen Cathedral. The cathedral was build from 1070 to 1300 over Olav den hellige ( st. Olav) .. The king that cristinized Norway. He died in a religious battle over Norway. He became a martyr after his death as it is said that his hair and nails still growed. He laid secretly buried here after his death. Today nobody knows where he is buried but one assumes he is still there somewhere.
Nidarosdomen is today the larges Cathedral in northern Europe. It is huge. It is a mixture between roman and gotic arcitecual style. And it also cotains the holy well of fresh water of st.Olav. It is today dry . But the cathedral is impressiv and dominates the whole town of Trondheim, and is a huge center for pilgrims just as the cathedral of Sevilla and Notre dame is. Tousands of turist come to our town to se the spledour of religion dating 800 years back.
For me it is a sacral place. The silence the beauty and the very deep respect I have for the people that made this with they own hands and not with all kinds of building tools as we have today , deserves the deepest respect form us all.
So next time you see a masterpiece from days gone long ago. Have in mind the life they lived, the struggle illness and hard labour , the poverty and hunger that makes it possible today to see and admire this cathedral and all other similar structures around the world..
Give them some respectful thoughts.
This is the first picture of a new set I am creating. From Trondheim its history people arcitecture and beauty.

Lost in time is this quant palace perched by the lotus pool in Chittagarh Fort, Rajasthan, India. I was told its history by a publisher from New Delhi whom I met while wandering through the fort. The palace is where the Sultan of Delhi saw the reflection of Padmini, the queen of Chittar in the pool. Mesmerized by her beauty he decided to conquer the Fort and its Maharaja - her husband to take her for himself. As the Sultan's army came crashing through the gates, Padmini chose, so not to be dishonoured - to die by leaping onto a flaming pyre, while her husband fought to his death.
