To Architecture lovers, and especially those who appreciate Modernism, Art Nouveau and Art Déco, Barcelona is, as everybody knows, a paradise. Each street and corner have the potential to enchant with a little architectural detail.
The Barri Gòtic is another - totally different - unforgettable Barcelona feature, as well as the Cathedral itself and the magnificent Santa Maria del Mar Basilica.
We surrounded the enormous buildings with our heads up in the air, many times, and always discovered something new.
And the language all around us. Catalan is a hybrid form of poetry in itself.

To architecture lovers, especially those who appreciate modernism, art nouveau, and art Déco, Barcelona is, as everybody knows, a paradise. Each street and corner has the potential to charm with an inconspicuous architectural detail.
And we have the entire universe of Gaudí. However, Barcelona's architectural and decorative surprises are not limited by any means to this master’s work.
On the facades of buildings and houses, shop entrances and even street lighting, it's easy to find captivating aspects that make us stop.

The palais de Chaillot, also named Trocadero, magnificently crowns the Chaillot hill in Paris.
Its monumental architecture was designed for the 1937 world exhibition, the last Paris colonial exhibition.
France had then the second largest colonial empire in the world including large parts of Africa and Asia
The Palais de Chaillot is above all famous for its spectacular view on the Eiffel tower, facing it on the other bank of the Seine river.
It is also well worth a visit for its museums, specially the Navy museum with ship models spanning three centuries of naval history.
Architecture lovers will appreciate too the Architecture Museum (Cite de l'architecture) with its French Monuments museum (web site in French).
Also watch the impressive metal fountains (right) in the gardens of Palais de Chaillot and the many skaters practicing around them.
The walk from Palais de Chaillot to the Eiffel tower across the Seine river is short and worth your time.

Then there's Gaudi’s world (Casa Batlló, La Pedrera, La Sagrada Família, Parc Guell, Finca Guell). More than just enjoying the beauty of these works of Art, the most interesting aspect to us was trying to understand them and learn about the author's intentions.
Of course, he wanted to convey nature and natural forms in architectural form, but that's just the more apparent aspect. He was a creative soul and a perfectionist, very detail-oriented, always hiding some secret meaning behind each trace. Finding them became, to us, a special kind of treasure hunt.
Parc Guell, in these photos, is a perfect example of a place where, amidst nature and its forms, new architecture is born that evokes them. The details are many and meticulous, and an unreal environment takes over our senses.

La Sagrada Familia (in these photos) is one of the most outstanding examples of this “hunt for meaning”. Even standing on a never-ending construction site, the already finished areas and the details we were able to glimpse are magnificent.
