The Stone

While many places spare little on their appearance, this one seems to have spared everything. Down to the standard interior outlet on the on the outside. There wasn't even a sign until relatively recently. But don't let it's appearance fool you, it's a warm, friendly place. Opened in 1997, the focus here is on neighborhood, beer, and peanuts. And on any given night, you could run into, listen to, or be served by, local music scene royalty.

Boone And Crockett

Unapologetically [Un]Authentic is how they bill themselves. A friendly, interestingly decorated local bar with occasional live music, and the first in Milwaukee to install a taco truck on its patio.

Edit: Moved

San Francisco Bay Bridge

Selinunte (Selinous and Selinus in ancient times) was an ancient Greek city on the south-western coast of Sicily.

It was destroyed during the First Punic War about 250 BC and never rebuilt. The utter destruction of every building, scarcely a single column being left upright, could also have been due to earthquakes.

The majority of the temples are distinguished by letters as their dedications are still under discussion.

This one, closest to the sea and situated in the ancient Acropolis, is called temple C. It is the oldest in this area, dating from 550 BC. In 1925-7 the fourteen of the north side’s seventeen columns were re-erected, along with part of the entablature.

"Multiple elements show a certain experimentation and divergence from the pattern of the Doric temple which later became the standard: the columns are squat and massive (some are even made from a single stone), lack entasis, show variation in the number of flutes, the width of the intercolumniation varies, the corner columns have a larger diameter than the others, etc.

Temple C probably functioned as an archive, since hundreds of seals have been found here and was dedicated to Apollo, according to epigraphic evidence, or perhaps Heracles."

Humboldt Park Beer Garden

And with this one, I call the Bay View part of this series essentially done. There is one more, 50b - yes, Bay View has two of them, but I'll wait till spring to get it. The beer gardens were once a staple in a very German Milwaukee, and in the last couple of years have made a welcome resurgence within our county parks. And we even have a mobile one! Pull up a stool, and enjoy some sausage, a pretzel, and some real beer.

Frugal Film Project (FFP) February 2023

Shot in the moment on a foggy day in Malmoe, Sweden.

1/30s at F8, Av, 6/17/20. Took off program since I knew I could hand-hold to 1/30s and wanted as much DOF as I could get. Actually not bad exposure for shooting direct at a light in twilight.
