Artist's statement for the flickr Museum of Fine Art: Architectural photography to me is not simply depicting what someone else created - it is much rather interpreting what I see as characteristical about that creation. And as such it is my personal, subjective vision of what makes this creation so special. Conversely, this type of photography is a meditative process in which I try to depict the essence of the objects (or rather spaces) I see.

does it frequently happen to you? :) you take your time to frame the scene, measure the exposure, check vertical and horizontal lines, focus and depth of field, filter position, etc... you take your photo and then already at home you discover details you did not notice when doing all these things to get a pic right :) this happened to me with this long exposure of 78 sec, plenty of time to watch the scene :) when editing the image I discovered that some lights left interesting shadows on water, one part of the fence was reflected on the water surface.... what a nice surprise, so much effort to get the castle as the main focal point and it is something else that makes a difference... a classic image in Speicherstadt, Hamburg

Another from the Bradford Beach House. The joke in the title refers to people seeing the lake for the first time. When they find they can't see the other side, they say "That's not a lake, that's a sea!"
