The building in which an architectural salvage shop is located. They had some wild stuff out on display.
An afternoon storm took down this house which was under salvage. No workers were on site, thankfully. A house nearby caught fire due to violent lightning.
Most vintage doors were made from Douglas Fir. Today, Douglas fir is used mainly for studs and structural support, but this IS your Daddy's Douglas Fir: old growth, beautiful grain, and in my humble opinion, better than today's Oak.

Items salvaged from one of the old warehouses that has been dismantled in the warehouse district of Danville, VA.
It won't fit any of our windows, but we might be able to mount it in an interior wall. Overall I think it's about 7 feet tall.
I wiped off a lot of crud (including human hair) to see how corroded things were. The verdict? Surprisingly good condition.
While I was in Delavan to shoot the condemned historic building, I came across this fun artist studio just a couple of doors down. The owner, John was there and was nice enough to give me a tour. He also posts on flickr as Hetzel Collection
