Not a bad shot if I do say so myself. Note early Gehry's restrained palette both materially and gesturally - he seems to be riffing on the Modernist "white box" architecture - more thoughts on that to come later...

Now for all the times I've seen these guys, this must be the worst lighting I've ever had to deal with!

MIRAZOZO luminarium is a sculpture people enter to be immersed in radiant light and colour. Since 1992 Architects of Air's luminaria have enchanted over 2 million visitors in 37 countries around the world.
MIRAZOZO is inspired by the beauty of natural geometry and by Islamic architecture. It features winding passages of small domes inspired by repetitious forms found in the bazaars of Iran.
The luminosity of light and colour inside MIRAZOZO is created purely by the light shining through the coloured plastic. All the individual pieces have been cut & glued together by hand in our workshop in Nottingham, England.

Description of work: Elisha S. Babcock and H. L. Story recognized a potential for real-estate development on the barren Coronado peninsula. They purchased 4100 acres for $110,000 and quickly set out to subdivide and sell the land. Babcock soon started to construct a hotel that he thought would be the 'talk of the western world.' He commissioned the Reid brothers to design the building. The architects were given creative freedom in their design. The hotel was constructed of wood which had to be imported from northern California. The hotel opened with 399 rooms, each containing a fireplace. On additional tracts of land were ancillary buildings, including a bathhouse, boathouse, salt water plunge, a museum and several service buildings. It was the first hotel in the world, and the largest building outside of New York City, to use electric lighting. To landscape the hotel, the Reid brothers turned to their local neighborhood nurseries. Kate Sessions was contacted and introduced specimens from San Francisco's famous Woodward Garden's Conservatory. Today the Hotel del Coronado is a National Historic Landmark known for its elegant Victorian architecture and lush gardens. (Source: Buckley, Marcie. urbanest (sic) student accommodation recently built on part of the King's Cross Central regeneration land. Designed by Glenn Howells Architects, 2013. The 27-storey tower approaches 100m in height, despite the original master-plan limit of 67m, which led to controversy about sightlines and local shading. London Borough of Camden.
