if you didn't know naked bulb, you wouldn't know that this is not a glamour shot. he is breaking apart at the seams. the make-up artist is great, but even she was challenged....

We were trying to get a pic of an indigo bunting off to the right when this bob white suddenly appeared out of the brush. We had heard the bob whites in several locations but never could find one. i have heard them since childhood but had never seen them - this was a first. The bird went a little ways and then disappeared back into the brush.

The sun made intermittent appearances creating beautiful dappled light, and with the temperatures so low the warmth in the calm air helped my fingertips too.

I decided to slip up to North Lincolnshire to have spend a few hours with this very obliging rare vagrant to western Europe and hear the wonderful repertoire of mimicry of other birds in it's song. Unfortunately, it turned out to be a brighter day than when originally planned, so the light was very brash and a bit contrasty, made more apparent by the bird's tendency to perch and sing from twiggy locations in its favoured Hawthorn bush, promoting the presence of unwanted shadows. Nevertheless great to see and hear!
Despite appearances and the name, a bird of wet woodland, rather than reedbed, breeding in north Palearctic eastern Europe and Asia; wintering in the Indian sub-continent.
In this shot it is singing from one of it's favoured perches around the Hawthorn tree it has made its own.
but nothing is what it appears to be :-)

There is light and beauty up there , that no shadow can touch, likewise all that seems may not be good, what is good is always beautiful .. don't get fooled by the appearances that can be deceptive , look deepest and the true beauty will reveal herself .... what i am saying is this beautiful island in Tokushima lives a hundred of cats and snakes ,only few older fisherman , some are alone and some are old couples and houses becomes derelick because of few population lives in this island

A groundskeeper keeps the Phanom Rung Historical Park in tip-top shape.
Wikipedia: Phanom Rung, or full name, Prasat Hin Phanom Rung is a Hindu Khmer Empire Temple complex set on the rim of an extinct volcano at 402 meters (1,319 ft) elevation. It is located in Buriram Province in the Isan region of Thailand, and was built at a time when Khmer social-political influences were significant in Srisaket. It was built of sandstone and laterite between the 10th and 13th centuries. It was a Hindu shrine dedicated to Shiva, and symbolizes Mount Kailash, his heavenly dwelling.
My Monday greeting comes from my own garden again this week. And since things are really happening out there in terms of new blossom appearances, that's not going to change anytime soon.
I see many qualities in the little snowdrops here that are worth appreciating.
It comes across as very modest, although it really does have some elegance. It has a lot of staying power and is an absolute team player (or family type, depending on how you want to look at it). And last but not least, when I look outside, it's also very fruitful.
With this in mind, I wish you an elegant start to the week and perseverance for the remaining days.
Mein Montagsgruß kommt auch diese Woche wieder aus dem eigenen Garten. Und da es dort draußen gerade so richtig zur Sach geht, was das Erscheinen neuer Blüten anbelangt, wird das sich auch so schnell nicht ändern.
Ich sehe in den kleinen Schneeglöckchen hier viele Eigenschaften, die es wert sind einmal gewürdigt zu werden.
Es komme sehr bescheiden daher, obwohl es wirklich einiges an Eleganz besitzt. Es hat viel Durchhaltevermögen und ist ein absoluter Teamplayer (oder Familientyp, je nachdem wie man das sehen möchte). Und nicht zuletzt, wenn ich so nach draußen schaue, ist es auch sehr fruchtbar.
In diesem Sinne wünsche ich Euch einen eleganten Wochenstart und Durchhaltevermögen für die restlichen Tage.

winter nights above the Arctic Circle are often blessed with appearances of Aurora Borealis which seem to be competing with those bright nights us humans create to beat the darkness.

Our Backyard in Southeast, PA.
Finally! A male Hummer is hanging out in our backyard. They usually make a few appearances in August. This guy has been around for a few days now.
Once in a year larch tree has it’s short moment of maximum attention. While the appearances of all other local conifers is quite similar over the year, larch trees are joining the autumn dress changing campaign. In some circumstances this is leading to a view like this. This small larch, in the middle of beach trees was illuminated by the evening sun and it was shining so bright, that I noticed it from a long distance though all the other trees. I couldn't go away without acceptable appreciation of that spectacle.
Einmal im Jahr haben die Lärchen ihren kurzen Moment maximaler Aufmerksamkeit. Während die Erscheinung aller anderen heimischen Nadelbäume das ganze Jahr über nahezu gleich ist, beteiligen sich die Lärchen an der Herbst Umkleide Aktion. Das führt dann unter Umständen zu so einem Anblick. Diese kleine Lärche mitten unter alten Buchen wurde von der Abendsonne angeleuchtet und hat dadurch so grell geglüht, dass ich sie bereits von Weitem durch die ganzen anderen Bäume gesehen habe. Da konnte ich natürlich nicht weitergehen ohne dieses Spektakel ausreichend zu würdigen.

Probably/possibly conected to the local Sparrow Hawk also making multiple appearances!
But never mind., a rarity hoping around in your own backyard is just about as much as anyone can hope for
And it won't ever be forgotten!
