Apis mellifera ligustica, dite abeille italienne, ou abeille jaune, est une sous-espèce d'abeilles élevée pour son miel.
Apparue au sud des Alpes italiennes, en Ligurie qui lui a donné son nom, elle est, avec la Buckfast, la plus répandue des abeilles. Elle est répartie dans l'ensemble de l'Italie. Les qualités de cette abeille en ont fait la plus exportée au monde, notamment sur les continents américain et australien. Elle a également été introduite en Nouvelle-Calédonie.

Quando si pensa all’impollinazione, il pensiero va in primo luogo alle api; ma contano, contano eccome, anche le oltre 16.000 le specie di api selvatiche per garantire il ciclo della vita nel mondo. Angurie, colza, ciliegie, mandorle, mele, more, mirtilli rossi e neri, pere, prugne, zucchine, girasole, erba medica, pomodori, sono solo alcuni dei prodotti agricoli la cui produzione è possibile grazie all’impollinazione degli insetti. È infatti motivata la grande preoccupazione che circonda il costante declino degli insetti impollinatori nel mondo, a ritmi particolarmente gravi negli ultimi anni.

The legs and around the eyes are also hairy.
