Raleigh FD arrived to find heavy fire on the 3rd floor of apartment building. 7 people had jumped from the 3rd floor. 13 total were initially transported. That number increased slightly as the event went into the morning.

Today the Ridiculous Heat continued, so instead of suffer stupidly in my own greenhouse of an apartment, Minty suggested I hang out with them in their nice, cool apartment. Yay! She made these DELICIOUS banana strawberry muffins. I ate two, which could easily have become ten, because seriously, yum.
We watched Clueless and then played some video games. In Mario Kart I kept falling off of cliffs and then in Flock, the stupid chickens wouldn't get out of the grass!
When I came home, Andy and I went to Costco to get an air conditioner. But tragically, they were all gone! We got a few groceries anyway.
However! As we were walking out, we saw a man returning with a big AC! It was unopened too! Andy ended up just buying it off of him since we couldn't have bought it after being returned.
We got home (and got a parking spot RIGHT in front of the building!) and put it in the window fairly easily, AND OMG AIR CONDITIONING!! It makes such a difference!!

I lived across the street from Mark and Earl (on the third floor) and Beth (on the second floor). My apartment was 8' x 20", which included the closet and the bathroom. If the folding bed/couch was open, the front door could only be opened partway.
