AUSTIN PART 2: AUSTIN WITH FRIENDS
We had the pleasure to meet Jordan Hargrave, a world traveler who had already visited all the UN countries in the world. Amazing, right? He is the number 5th from this small club that I have met in person (previously Rus Margolin, Lee Abbamonte, Leon Hochman & Anush Dawidjan)
Jordan took us around the city starting at Old School Sandy’s in Old Austin where we got a tasty butterscotch milkshake 😋 and walked together with us along the Lady Bird Lake stopping at the Stevie Ray Vaughan Statue: In 1994, Austin decided to erect a statue honoring this American musician, singer, songwriter, and record producer, best known as the guitarist and frontman of the blues rock band Double Trouble.

Sudipti Hajela, Divyakriti Singh, Hriday Vipul Chheda, and Anush Agarwalla of India won the gold medal in the dressage team competition.
In the sailing competition on day three of the Asian Games on Tuesday, Indian sailors Neha Thakur and Eabad Ali won silver and bronze, respectively, to start their nation’s medal count. Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar, Rudrankksh Patil, and Divyansh Singh Panwar, a team competing in the men’s 10m air rifle event, earlier won the nation’s first gold medal at Hangzhou 2023. Along with other events on Day 3 of the 19th Asian Games, Tuesday will see more Indian shooters compete as top contenders.
Esha Singh and Rhythm Sangwan will compete alongside Manu Bhaker in the team event whereas she will just compete in the women’s 25m pistol competition. Divyansh Singh Panwar and Ramita, who have already won medals in Hangzhou, will compete in the mixed team 10m air rifle event in an effort to increase their totals as well as India’s.
The Indian volleyball team lost in the quarterfinals, but they will play archrival Pakistan in the consolation round. Early in the morning, the men’s hockey team will play again against Singapore.
Tulika Mann suffers heartbreak in the bronze medal match against Mongolia’s Adiyasuren Amarsaikhan in the women’s 78+ judo competition. By ippon, the Mongolian prevails. The Indian has won numerous national championships and won a silver medal at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham last year.
Dressage, show jumping, and eventing are the three sub-disciplines of equestrian riding.
Consider dressage to be the equine version of figure skating. The rider and horse must perform a set of choreographed moves. The horse will canter, stroll, and trot as background music is played. The sport, which is competed on a level 20 by 60-meter field, requires absolute accuracy and cohesion between the rider and the horse.
The horse must jump over several fences while the rider and his mount navigate an obstacle course in the sport of show jumping, which inevitably draws analogies to events like the pole vault, high jump, hurdles, and steeplechase.
The best way to characterise eventing is as an equestrian triathlon. It is a thorough examination of the skills of a horse and rider in three disciplines: dressage, cross country, and show jumping. Some riders, like Fouaad Mirza, compare the cross-country competition to a battle since the horses must run quickly through challenging terrain.
