Lophura inornata is endemic to Sumatra, Indonesia, where it is known from at least ten localities in the central and south Barisan mountain range. There are recent records from at least three of these sites, Gunung Kaba and Gunung Kerinci, both within Kerinci-Seblat National Park where it remained relatively common during surveys in the late 1990s and early 2000s3 and Bukit Barisan Selatan National Park (where it has been camera trapped1). It was described as fairly common around Kerinci in the early 1900s

Whisker is the oldest son of Nestor (born in Antwerp zoo, august 2012) and his mate Tasa (moved from Czech Republic).
His female siblings Winta and Waka moved to Whipsnade zoo last year to be part of a new breeding program (may 2023)
Zoo favorite Nestor moved to another zoo park in Belgium (feb 2024) . Apparently his very pure genes are important to the breeding program of West and Central African lions. Many lions kept in zoos are crossbreeds.
Lions in West- and Central Africa are regionally endangered, living in small fragmented populations in protected areas only. The main threats are habitat destruction for agricultural development (of dry savannah) and human-lion conflict.
Whisker as well as his younger brother Xesar will also move to other zoos. Xesar's female siblings Xabi and Xira will remain with their mother according to the latest news. In time they will be paired with another male.
In Belgium's KMDA (Antwerp and Planckendael zoo) newborns are named following the alphabet.
2021 was a W year. 2022 was the X year.
Newborns this year (2024) will get a name starting with a Z.

This species is endemic to Indonesia, where it is found only on Sulawesi and Buton Island off the southeast coast, with no records of either species of Anoas from other small neighbouring islands adjacent to Sulawesi (Burton et al. 2005), where it is found up to 1,000 m (G. Semiadi pers. comm. 2006). It remains uncertain whether the two putative species, Bubalus depressicornis and Bubalus quarlesi, are sympatric or parapatric in their distribution (Burton et al. 2005). Across the island, local distribution of anoa species remains unclear, as they may occur in forest patches at different altitudes or sympatrically (Burton et al. 2005). Records of skulls and morphological descriptions of this species suggest it is present in the northern peninsular, as far east as the Bogani Nani-Wartabone National Park. It is also found across the central region and ranging to the tip of the eastern and southeastern peninsulars, but no longer present in the south peninsular. The lowland anoa is also present in the central and north of Buton Island (Burton et al. 2005).
Historically, anoa of one species or other were present throughout the majority of the island’s forests (Weber 1890, Sarasin and Sarasin 1901, Mohr 1921, Harper 1945, Groves 1969, Burton et al. 2005).

The emu ( Dromaius novaehollandiae) is the largest bird native to Australia and the only extant member of the genus Dromaius. It is the second-largest extant bird in the world by height, after its ratite relative, the ostrich. There are three subspecies of emus in Australia. The emu is common over most of mainland Australia, although it avoids heavily populated areas, dense forest, and arid areas.

The meerkat or suricate, Suricata suricatta, is a small mammal belonging to the mongoose family. Meerkats live in all parts of the Kalahari Desert in Botswana, in much of the Namib Desert in Namibia and southwestern Angola, and in South Africa. A group of meerkats is called a "mob", "gang" or "clan". A meerkat clan often contains about 20 meerkats, but some super-families have 50 or more members. In captivity, meerkats have an average life span of 12–14 years, and about half this in the wild.
The Okapi is endemic to the forests of DR Congo, occurring between about 500 m and 1,500 m elevation over a fairly large range, on both sides of the Congo River. The primary strongholds of Okapi include are the Ituri / Aruwimi and adjacent Nepoko basin forests, and the forests of the upper Lindi, Maiko and Tshopo Basins; the species is also well known in the Rubi-Tele region in Bas Uele (Hart in press).
In Uganda, it formerly occurred in the Semliki Forest, but is not known to survive there (East 1999).

Sauromalus obesus.
The Common Chuckwalla (Sauromalus ater) is a species of lizard in the family Iguanidae. It inhabits the Sonoran and Mojave Deserts of the southwestern United States and northwestern Mexico. Its range extends from Eastern California, Utah, and Nevada south to Baja California and Sonora.
Its original epithet was Sauromalus obesus; and although that name is no longer officially recognized, it is still very common in the literature and it remains in many standard natural history references for North America.

The Cinereous Vulture (Aegypius monachus) is a large raptorial bird that is distributed through much of Eurasia. It is also known as the Black Vulture, Monk Vulture, or Eurasian Black Vulture. It is a member of the family Accipitridae, which also includes many other diurnal raptors such as kites, buzzards and harriers. It is one of the two largest old world vultures.
This bird is an Old World vulture, and is only distantly related to the New World vultures, which are in a separate family, Cathartidae, of the same order. It is therefore not directly related to the much smaller American Black Vulture (Coragyps atratus) despite the similar name and coloration.
