I just LOVE the color WHITE!! ❤️
I have it in my garden in the form of white blooms of Roses and Daisies! In my house, in carpets and sofas ! I wear it with my clothes! It makes me feel good! It simply expesses my personal joy—whenever…..!!
But, in the Zoo Garden of the city of Antwerp, I immortalized this fine, bright color with its adorable white blooms, together with white butterflies and bees !!
****You can see in my photos fluffy bees and graceful white butterflies , being very occupied over these beautiful and photogenic blooms of white Scabiosa Alba!!
Recently, I have had the utter joy to get to know and appreciate better the biggest and very refined port city of Belgium : Antwerp/Anvers!! A very historical Flemish city, dating from Middle Ages !The home land of the great painter Rubens! A very important commercial center , with a huge and important European port! And filled……with diamond selling shops!!
But!! As you can imagine, I was interested , again , mostly, in the Antwerp Zoo! The one I had visited again a few years ago! So!!! I was already strolling in there by 9am!!! A few hours only before returning back home. Wearing a mask, and with temperatures around 30°C!!!! The Zoo was sad and silent --- just a few masked visitors---- with exceptional, blooming gardens that enchanted my soul! Animals??? Silence….apart from the sad roars of a lonely, male lion , resting all alone under a shadow…A very frustrating moment for me, I must say…They told me he was waiting for a lioness soon…

The Dalmatian Pelican (Pelecanus crispus) is the largest of the eight pelican species, averaging 10-15 kg in weight, 160-190 cm in length, and over 3m in wingspan. The Dalmatian Pelican differs from the Great White Pelican (Pelecanus onocrotalus) in that it has curly nape feathers, grey legs and greyish-white (rather than pure white) plumage. It has a red lower mandible in the breeding season.
It breeds from southeastern Europe to Central Asia in swamps and shallow lakes.
There are around 1,000 breeding pairs in Europe, most of them in Ukraine, Russia, Greece, Romania (Danube Delta), Bulgaria and Albania (Karavasta Lagoon).
This pelican migrates short distances. In flight, it is an elegant soaring bird, with the flock moving in synchrony. The neck is then held back like a heron. As is well known, pelicans catch fish and small birds in their huge bill pouches.
Like the White Pelican, this species has declined greatly through habitat loss and persecution.

Choucador superbe - Dreifarben-Glanzstar - Driekleurige glansspreeuw - Estornino soberbio - Storno superbo
This species has a very large range and can commonly be found in East Africa, including Ethiopia, Somalia, Uganda, Kenya, South Sudan, and Tanzania.
Lamprotornis superbus in Antwerp Zoo
The coypu or nutria (Myocastor coypus), is a large, herbivorous, semiaquatic rodent, coming in somewhere between the larger Beaver and smaller Muskrat in size.
Originally native to temperate South America (Argentina, southern Brazil, middle Bolivia, Chile, Paraguay and Uruguay), it has since been introduced to North America, Europe, Asia, and Africa in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, primarily by fur ranchers. These farms have generally not been successful long term investments and farmed coypu often are released or escape as operations become unprofitable.
Although it is still valued for its fur in some regions, its destructive feeding and burrowing behaviors make this invasive species a pest throughout most of its range.
There are two commonly-used names in the English language for Myocastor coypus. The name nutria is generally used in North America and Asia; however, in Spanish-speaking countries, the word nutria refers to the otter.
The name coypu (derived from the Mapudungun language) is used in Latin America and Europe.
Coypus live in burrows alongside stretches of water. They feed on river plants, and waste close to 90% of the plant material while feeding on the stems. They also feast on small creatures such as snails or mussels.
The coypu somewhat resembles a very large rat, or a beaver with a small tail.
Adults are typically 4–9 kg in weight, and 40–65 cm in body length, with a 30–45 cm tail. They have a coarse, darkish brown outer fur with a soft under-fur. Males are slightly larger than females.
This picture was taken in Antwerp Zoo, Belgium.

The meerkat (Suricata suricatta) or suricate is a small mongoose found in southern Africa. It is characterised by a broad head, large eyes, a pointed snout, long legs, a thin tapering tail, and a brindled coat pattern. The head-and-body length is around 24–35 cm (9.4–13.8 in), and the weight is typically between 0.62 and 0.97 kg (1.4 and 2.1 lb). The coat is light grey to yellowish brown with alternate, poorly defined light and dark bands on the back. Meerkats have foreclaws adapted for digging and have the ability to thermoregulate to survive in their harsh, dry habitat. Three subspecies are recognised.
