The model I am expecting will be a 7HI which comes in black.
The model pictured is a 7 or 7i.
Why step two?
In step one you should make a note of all the moving parts, clear parts, buttons, anything that might be flipped out. You dont wanna mess with that. But I guess this will vary with the camera model plus it should be tried out and cannot be shown correctly in pictures.
What I am planning to do, color coded:
- light blue: wear and tear. Get these parts dirty, scratched, sticky, whatever.
- orange: glue. I will apply a nice amateurish ring of glue (think crying clown) to indicate that these parts are only held in place by amateurishly placed amounts of glue.
- purple: duct tape. Think hinges (battery compartment) and outlets you will not use (me for instance, I will not use a remote cable, external power or VGA output on my jungle trip). Possible benefit: mild ruggedizing/ water proofing of those parts.
- green: individualizing the thing. use sandpaper to scratch off the writing and write it back on with a marker in German (I am German). The model I bought is black so I might switch to stickers here.
- yellow: clear tape. I will see how that goes. I guess a "frame" of clear tape will not hurt usability so much but will indicate that screen might fall out of place any minute.
Not pictured:
Shoulder strap: tie a nice knot in it and seal it with glue. After all - should the camera be stolen, robbed from me or plainly lost "burnt soil" is the name of the game.
Lens cap - possibly drill hole into it and cover with duct tape.

My preference for image editing software would be my favourite, Adobe Photoshop Lightroom. Here I tried out a different photo editing software and I edited this using GIMP, a free image editor. I like it. www.gimp.org/downloads/

New lower control arm, axle half-shaft, ball joint and tie rod ends on passenger side. (Bumped a curb a little too hard)
Handyman's special! This Golf GTI is a fun car. With a little work, it could be even better. At the moment, the car will not start, but it turns over just fine. I'm pretty sure it's a blown head gasket, which makes for a good opportunity to swap out the heads for the 16v version and get some extra horsepower.
The interior is in fair condition, but the headliner is shot and there is a hole in the driver's seat. The rims are pretty horrible looking, but they hold air.
This car hasn't ever been wrecked, paint is original and in pretty good condition. The car has a few small dings and dents.
