OK so I've missed the boat somewhat posting this and I did shoot this for VDay but thought it was too cliché to post...well today's a new day and the heart does what the heart wants to do, so here it is. I probably do this at least once a year so consider this my 2016 book heart.

A trio of antique Fords is seen on Adams Street, just west of Wabash Avenue in Downtown Chicago. Have their owners stopped at the Golden Arches for some McFlurries?

Maybe calling it an antique is too strong, but I took this at Rideau Antiques.

This is a beautiful entryway to a ranch in the Central Texas Hill Country. Both sides of the fence were meticulously landscaped with white gravel, plants, and antique implements. The fence is a pretty reddish split wood. The grass and trees are shades of green, but in color did not add to the subject. A beautiful gate decorated the actual entrance (a different photo). This was a beautiful drive down a country road in the spring. The road was lined with beautiful bluebonnets and other wildflowers, as well as beautiful ranch lands. The agave plant is also known as the Century Plant.

I gave this an antique feel to match the antique tractor. I started with a preset in Lightroom, tweeked the settings, then into Photoshop to add the texture and adjustments.

Thanks to Xu Kin for his texture, Soul of the Underground, in the Texture for Layers group.

Blasting west under the old NYC Signal Bridge at Waterloo, Indiana on the Norfolk Southern Chicago Line. NKP 765 leads a 16 car employee special with no other power in sight. The experience of racing it west from Bryan to get this shot was pure emotional overload. The sights, sounds, smells, all unreal. The Old Signal Bridge is on it's last legs and may be gone by the end of 2014, the steam engine is well into middle aged on it's second life. Put them together and it is something really special.

I met a traveller from an antique land...

...And on the pedestal these words appear:

"My name is Ozymandias, king of kings:

Look on my works, ye Mighty, and despair!"

Nothing beside remains. Round the decay

Of that colossal wreck, boundless and bare

The lone and level sands stretch far away.

This is another of the flowers from the Rose and Lily Bouquet that I bought Lynne for our Wedding Anniversary. I wondered what it would be like to apply this old technique to a flower and am quite pleased with the result.
