Today the Hereios of the We’re Here! Group are keeping us updated on the Number of Days Until Christmas.

On April 20, 2011 the Sony network was hacked and taken offline for 23 days.

The reason for the attack was Sony reducing the functionality of the PS3 already sold in market. GeoHolz created a "hack" to jailbreak the PS3 to allow the original functionality of the PS3 to use Linux. Sony then sued Geoholz and all the users downloading this hack/patch to the PS3. Anonymous hackers struck back and took down the Sony Network for 23 days. They left code saying "We are Legion". Sony claimed 77 million credit cards were stolen while the hackers proclaimed no numbers were stolen. This was the largest and longest hack in history to date.

Anonymous response:

We are Anonymous

We are Legion

We do not forgive

We do not forget

Expect us

The hack took 23 days based on the conspiracy of 23, a famous German hacker film. The phrase "We are Legion" comes from Mark 5:9 in the Bible referring to Jesus talking to the possessed. Legion refers to multiple demons. The symbol 5:9 and 23 are prominent in the painting.

The Harvard Art Museums website describes this work by Rodin as follows:

This bronze -- [Iris, Messenger of the Gods (Another Voice, Called Iris)] -- is derived from Rodin’s unrealized second project for a monument to the writer Victor Hugo. Rodin originally conceived the figure as a winged personification of glory that would float above the author’s head. In his earliest study for it, the artist retained the head and left arm, though he eliminated them after an initial exhibition. By removing them and repositioning the legs into their current confrontational pose, he erases any sense of individualism in favor of anonymous carnality. The metaphoric title adds another layer of provocation to the composition, suggesting that the figure’s sexual organ is now her means of verbal communication. A cast of this work once owned by the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, was considered too bold for exhibition during the early twentieth century.

The painting in the background is Frederic Bazille's Scène d'été (1869).

I chose to do another self-portrait for this week’s Anonymous Portrait prompt this week. It made me think about the things that make me who I am to others who know me, but doesn’t give away my identity to the world. While, I’m not SUPER ecstatic of how this photo turned out, it does combine my thick hair (something that people note as being ME) and my favorite place/thing to do – being outdoors.

This was taken the same day as " I am " ... for some reason i forgot to put this one up. I was going through old files and came across it, so just thought i'd post it now.

a man caught sleeping in the airport.

The most amazing thing happened. This man was lying forehead to shins when I started to photograph him. Once he saw I was photographing him, he threw up the peace sign. An absolute random event of two strangers coming together.

This man approached me, bowed to me, showed me his black belt in Tae Kwon Do then wrote "Anonymous" on the ground with his own saliva. Then bowed again and left :/

Petite explication sur le titre : Peter a donc changé de custo, et j'aimerai lui trouver un nouveau nom, donc il passe au stade d'Anonymous.

Today marks the start of our two week countdown until our next visit to Walt Disney World! I'm really excited about this vacation to celebrate Carrie's college graduation for several reasons.

First, we'll be at WDW from May 22 - 25, which is always awesome. Then, Disney stepped it up for us with the 24 hour day on the 24th! Next we drive to Fort Lauderdale on the 26th for a 7 night Eastern Caribbean cruise on Allure of the Seas. And, to finish things off (and break up the drive home), we're making a quick stop back at WDW on June 2. I can't wait for the trip, and if anyone else is going to be at WDW during the days we are there, let me know (and, especially for the 24 hour day)!

Now for today's image, you may remember my Obscure Pirates shot a little while back. I was challenging myself to shoot things in Pirates besides the iconic scenes. Inspiration for this one, however, goes to Cory DIsbrow. When trying to decide if I should upgrade to the 5D3, Cory was nice enough to send me some RAW files to play with, and a shot of this guy was one of them (although his was framed much tighter and taken with the amazing 135mm f/2 Canon lens).

I'm loving the 5D3 for dark rides, and the Sigma 85mm f/1.4 is surprisingly good for this application. Now I really want a wider prime to go with it and I'm torn between the cheaper Canon 50mm f/1.4 and the more expensive Sigma 35mm f/1.4 which is getting glowing reviews. As happy as I am with the 85mm, I think the Sigma may be in the lead, but we'll see...
