I learned a lesson about shooting at angles. You have to be careful not to make some images TOO angular.
From this position it was easier to see the angular features of the jumbled boulders. Getting from this spot to the small pool above the drop off took careful stemming on slippery rocks (with attention paid to not damaging any moss) and discretionary use of the small handholds that were sparsely but conveniently located on the boulders. Clifty Wilderness, Red River Gorge, Daniel Boone National Forest. Late February 2012.
The Atlanta Botanical Garden has an indoor rain forest - these compound leaves are several feet long and the individual fronds are about 3 feet long. I loved the play of angles of the fronds and their shadows.
