Said Bear turned up this morning for breakfast. His factory name is 'Happy' but he's always found that a bit presumptuous. So, Said Bear it will be for now.
Just the shell of this early school remains. Now it's used to garage ambulances. It's a nice source of rent for someone.

I always enjoy the early stages of making soup; the vivid colors and heady fragrances as the base develops is so entertaining. Here we see the spinach and red capsicums beginning to sweat. The red onions and garlic are underneath, gently infusing the mixture with their aromatic, savory notes.
In the grounds of the old asylum is this forgotten reservoir. Thankfully fenced off from people. The wildlife just gets on with being wild. Through a chink in the fence this wonderful view brought me peace for a moment or two.
As you can see here, I am already ahead of the game. These pickled carrots are into their maturing phase before eating.
An abundance of blackberries whizzed together with yoghurt and ice water. Basil to garnish bc my mint plant has given up!

the skills to make curved window glass have almost disappeared. it's quite something to watch. I hope nobody decides to break this one for a laugh.
OK, I wasn't going to get any more cookbooks - my shelves are full. However, I saw this, read some of it, and laughed. Some of the recipes are a bit questionable, but the expletive-laden text is so different from anything else in my collection that I had to have this. And it just made me laugh; it reminded me of someone I used to go out with.
It's all about cooking and eating vegetables, cooked by yourself, instead of buying takeouts. Well, cooking veg appeals; I can't remember the last time I took food out of a restaurant, and have never had it delivered.

Guacamole doesn't store well, or for long. But sometimes you need to keep it for a day or two in the fridge. Even in a sealed jar, the surface goes khaki or even grey. It's ok to eat but unsightly. Scoop it off and feed to the dog?
A chef friend shared his tip - top up the jar with water (to exclude air from the surface) and pour it off when you are ready to serve some of the green goodness.
Water won't mix or dilute the product but will save you from that ugliness!
This is one of the volunteers who takes my blood to where it's needed. The blood service even sends me a link to the map to see where it's going. Rain or shine, the blood gets through.

Blitzed, and now coming off the simmer. You can see how it has reduced a bit. Simmer for longer and reduce some more for a thicker soup.
I found some clever little spring clips in the garden shop which I have used to fix my new lights to the kitchen cupboards, so the doors will open and close without any problems.
As low, mood lights go, they work just nicely =]
Seen are the pilae that supported the floor of the Roman bath house. Hot air would be forced through the space.
