No, I'm not having a bake sale! My kitchen is a bit chilly at the moment and the dough wasn't as active as usual. The result is this compact bread brick.

It smells wonderful in the toaster and tastes good too. But just one slice will do the work of two. I may have hit on something here.

Watch out for Clive's special "Expedition Loaf" coming to a bakery near you, maybe 😅

Smoked mackerel, kumara (sweet potato) chips, and peas. A bit of tomato sauce and mayo for interest.

Side elevation of the Custom House at Lancaster.

Duties and taxes were a major source of income in the town.

Designed by Gillow.

There's a recent trend to break the windows on this building. I thought I'd take a picture of this pretty window while it lasts.

This morning demanded a steamy cappuccino - 80s style. But I don't have any suitable cups, so here it is in a glass.

Yes, it doesn't look like the proportions are right, but they are close enough for government work, as we used to say.

And it's my kitchen ... =]

Beautiful Sunrise Morning In The UK Shot On Pixel 6 Pro (Telephoto Lens)

Having been out all day I return to find a) some fool has left the lights on and b) the daffodils have come out - how lovely!

This part of the canal is teeming with tadpoles. The weeds, while not ideal for canal boats, are home to many creatures.

The Worm Moon is so-called because now the ground has thawed, the earthworms will emerge - look for worm casts on the soil.

It's also called the Lenten Moon (because it's Lent!). It comes from the old German word 'Lenzin' which means spring.

I took this with my Pixel - I quite like the artefacts and flare.

A gentle rain outside. I love how it affects the morning light in my kitchen.

Time for coffee and a sit down for a moment.

Unusual velocipede. Often wondered if they are worth the money.

The best dark chocolate gelato I've had outside Italy.

At Morecambe. Awesome.

Not charred, just very well done!

This is my first cauliflower cheese. I cooked it in an air fryer.

It was fun making the cheese sauce - I used Red Leicester and some old Cheddar, some scallions, Ras El Hanout spices, and English mustard powder. And it's still quite satisfying making a roux that doesn't split.

This is half a medium cauliflower, and I reckon it would be enough for three people, with some salad on the side.

I've topped it with Japanese seaweed, for that umami taste.

Drinking coffee in the pouring rain having decided not to stay in a packed concert room. To be fair there was an umbrella. It was so peaceful here, too.

When i asked the barista what blend she was using, she replied that she did not know. She just opened the bag and filled the grinder. I salute her honesty.

After cooking a batch of pasta sauce overnight, it's quickly cooled before being stored in the fridge.

More play with shooting images in raw, and editing (over-editing!). I like the effects on the pylons on the Millennium Bridge, and realize I should have extended this to the rest of the picture.

The handsome telephone exchange building. Built in the days when there would be human operators making connexions, machines have long since replaced them.

Outside the Priory is a fence; surprisingly, quite a lot of it is falling to pieces. However, some ladybirds have found a home in the layers of rust.

A Red Admiral soaking up the warmth from the stone wall.

Elmer the Patchwork Elephant was inspired by the mascot for Bordeaux Zoo.

As an introduction to diversity it's a great set of books. Read more here:

These tomato plants will eventually form the base of my autumn pesto,Pesto del lunatico. So named after the local river, not my state of mind 😁

Stepping out this morning to go to work, I almost stepped on my neighbor while he was eating breakfast. I avoided him, and for my pains I just got 'the look'!

A good place to sit for a few minutes and gather one's thoughts.

The shaka hand gesture started life in Hawaii and means everything from thanks to hang loose. In other words, Aloha 😄

I've often wondered what it means and where it originated. Look it up for yourself and you will feel better, for sure.

Opposite the statue of Eric Morecambe is this nice seaside cafe. Traditional English fare and they prefer you to pay with money over plastic.

I noticed these empty casks on the bins today. There are several micro breweries here and i recognize some of the containers. I don't understand why these aren't being returned to be re-filled.

Pizza night. It's a team effort: they make it and I eat it -- what a team!

Sometimes I feel like this.

Every now and then the footpath offers some useful information.
