I shot this intriguing window with my Olympus E-M1 while walking along the streets of New York City.

Once again I used an in camera processed jpeg with increased color, highligt and shadow. Ajusted white balance on kelvin scale.

When I returned to my hometown, I went to Kurashiki for the first time in 35 years.

I was surprised that the town was amplified fairly larger.

Let me introduce you about the amplification of this tourist area.

Candid street photography from Glasgow, Scotland. With a pair of Marshall amplifiers delivering her sound I just loved the composition of this shot that presented itself. I am a little concerned about those flip-up sunglasses though, they were never a good look when they were in fashion decades ago! Enjoy.

at Heckscher Park is amazing... if you stand in the middle and whisper, you heard it very loud... I took my grandsons there, they loved screaming and stomping inside... I found this out by luck when I was there with a friend...

Well...I like it.

HFF!

The Exposure Photography Festival presents The Fence exhibition at Calgary’s Olympic Plaza, in partnership with Far North Photo Festival (Yellowknife, Northwest Territories), Chinook Blast! Festival (Calgary) and Photoville (Brooklyn, New York, USA).

Co-curated by Amanda Annand, Far North Photo Festival, and Beth Kane, Exposure Photography Festival, the exhibition presents the work of Northern-based and Indigenous artists from across Canada’s Northern Territories. The featured artists explore documentary photography in the Circumpolar North while addressing Indigenous issues and Northern representation. The exhibition highlights the realities of life in Northern communities, from global warming’s profound impact on the Arctic and its effect on the land, wildlife, and natural resources, to the revitalization of Indigenous culture, languages, traditions and ways of life.

By activating accessible spaces via this public presentation, the exhibition promotes wider understandings and increased access to the art of photography and visual storytelling, amplifying impactful narratives and connecting artists to a wide audience.

St Patrick's Roman Catholic Church has the dubious distinction of being situated on a site which was once a brothel and a music hall owned by one of Casanova's mistresses. It was initially a spiritual home for the Irish community in London, having been one of the first Catholic buildings established in Britain after the Protestant Reformation, but today also functions as the centre of the parish's volunteer work with the poor, sick and homeless in Soho, as well as delivering services in English, Spanish, Portuguese and Cantonese. It's also a stunning example of Italianate architecture in London, but somehow its multifaceted history -- and the fact that it's so peaceful despite being only minutes from Leicester Square, Piccadilly Circus and Covent Garden -- made it even more fascinating to photograph.

This was my second visit to the location in the past few years and the second time I've captured the church from the entrance to its arcaded nave. I visited on a clear day when the sun was high to ensure as much as light as possible would be flooding through the windows, lighting up the barrel-vaulted ceiling and amplifying the colour along the church's gilded apse. While the church looks magnificent in any light conditions, my aim was to bring out the location's bright, clean and airy ambience, with warm light illuminating the central aisle and the pews reflecting in the Renaissance-style marble floor.

The image was very straightforward to shoot and edit, comprising a combination of several exposures blended with luminosity masks, allowing me to control the intensity of the sunlight pouring through the windows at the same time as providing the best possible finish in the shadows. I made very few changes to the colour balance but tried to bring out the vibrance of the warm light while emphasising the muted blue-ish tones along the marble floor, as well as isolating and slightly desaturating the foreground to help guide the eye towards the centre of the image.

Candid street photography from Glasgow, Scotland. Captured some time ago with my then broken 50mm f/1.8 lens. Since being knocked on the street my cheap plastic nifty fifty suffered from horrible chromatic aberration and the bokeh in this shot is misshaped away from it's usual beautiful roundness - Just a small knock from a passer-by must have jarred something out of alignment. Still, a slightly imperfect shot but an image that I love. Wishing you all a wonderful weekend ahead.

Something there is about soft, gently falling snow that makes silence all the more present. You can stand for moments and not hear a thing but the rhythm of your breathing, the beat of your heart, the woodpecker's tapping. Despite all of my complaints about Wisconsin winters, a walk in this amplified silence is a treasure. Lovely short poem, by the way.

How is it that the snow

amplifies the silence . . .

Abstract artwork on the basis of a particular old-school type of Light Amplification. The structural details are irrelevant: All that matters is Light. Light causes darkness and despair to disappear and it facilitates finding one’s way into following the path of Life.

The image was inspired by Vangelis’s Light And Shadow song in “1492 – Conquest of Paradise” album.

Candid street photography from Glasgow, Scotland. Some serious headphones and I wonder if they are designed for hearing loss - having two amps strapped to the head! I had to keep this in colour for those lovely purple tints in her hair. Wishing all of my Flickr friends a fantastic weekend of photography. Enjoy!

Street performer, amazing singer, € 5.00 CD, if I love you, street of Dublin, Ireland, Late Fall 2010.

Woodpeckers tap to find grubs under dead wood and bark. The sound here tends to be stop-start. When a woodpecker is in the mood for love, it will find a dead branch or tree and make it resound, sending a sonar signal far and wide to let potential partners know that there is vigor in the air. Low populations of man during the ages of prehistory were rarely individuals lost in the disordered woods of time. Reindeer runs opened wide 'motorways' north south and more; many coastlines offered fast path along beach or matted dune, animal tracks to rivers and lake might be opened with the snap of a twig and river paths kept free as winter sodden trees fell for fire wood. Even away from paths, man might copy nature and make sonar signals learning the rules of amplification via the experience and observation of dead wood and rock cavity. Emulating and perfecting natural sources of amplification being a simple jump of logic to be repeated and assimilated through the Mesolithic, Neolithic and ages of metal. Seeing an alcove carved smooth with acoustic properties would simply be an expected subplot within man's great journeys.

Taken with a vintage 135mm, I think the Takumar 1:2.5.
