This is a different angle from the previous post where I first noticed the red colored leaves resting on the rocks near the rapids. Hope everyone has a wonderful week. :-)

(It appears that my Cinestill developer had had too many rolls of film developed with it. Both this and the previous roll were significantly under-developed. Cinestill one-step developer has its advantages, but I plan to go back to my Kodak D76.)

Amicalola Falls is an 829 acre (3.35 square kilometer) State Park in Georgia, USA. The biggest attraction is a 729 foot (222 meter) waterfall, the highest in Georgia. The park also provides access to Springer Mountain, the southern end (or starting point) of the approximately 2,200 mile (3,500 kilometer) long Appalachian Trail.

A Loud Roar Could Be Discerned By Many That Day
Somewhere far off in the Blue Mountains of Georgia
But it was only through a clearing in the woods
That I chanced upon and saw the tumbling waters
From its lofty heights above,
The Waters Plunged Downward
Continuing a journey to last many months & days.

A view to Amicalola Falls through a break in some trees not long after parking. For me, this image was about a few things. One was the view with the waterfall. Yes, that was definitely a sight to take in! But there was also a view with contrasts present in this setting. One was with the blue skies compared to that of the more earthly tones in the trees around me. Another was just the setting of the trees themselves and how it led to that distant waterfall. I felt by pulling back on the focal length with my Nikon SLR camera, I could capture more of those contrast and include that as a final image.

We just took a brief trip to the Smoky Mountain National Park for some fall color and on our way back home decided to make a quick stop by Amicalola Falls State Park in Georgia. I haven’t been in several years and we only spent about an hour here, but it was nice to have a go at shooting here again now that I have a bit more experience and knowledge under my belt. Enjoy!

The first challenge on the Springer Mountain approach trail was getting from the Reflecting Pool to the top of Amicalola Falls.
You go up one long flight, walk a short way on a mostly level path, then start up again. Several of the turnarounds had larger platforms for taking breaks and photographs.

This is an extra special waterfall to me. This was the 1st falls I visited when I got serious about waterfall photography. I have only been here 2 times before yesterday and both times I was still shooting film. I believe this is the highest waterfall in Georgia.
This is at the foot of the Amicalola Falls trail in northern Georgia, in the foothills of the Smoky Mountains. I went up on a photo trip in the last weekend in October, 2011. There wasn't a lot of water, but the trees were pretty and I was able to get some good shots, I think.
