Flags are naturally political. By posting this, I'm not trying to make a statement.
I've observed this flag on a tattered old house by a busy highway. It's been decaying visibly for several years. Today, I finally found a place to park, squatted on a hill on the opposite side of the road, and aimed between power lines as drivers stared.
I'm glad I took the time to do this before we move out of the area . . . or the shreds fall.

My hometown, Turners Falls, MA, posted a flag for each soldier that has died in the Iraqi war in the town square. This capture was taken last spring during a visit.

Brandy, you're a fine girl…But my life, my love, and my lady is the sea
Brandy (You’re a Fine Girl) by Looking Glass
While on the Yankee Freedom Ferry Ride, I was taken in by the view looking to the east and stern of the ship. My thought as I composed this image was centered around the American flag, using the blue waters of the Gulf of Mexico and skies above as a backdrop. But my attention was later drawn to the distant ship. As I was listening to an Apple Music playlist, I heard the “Brandy” song and realized that captured essence of the image. The solitary ship, surrounded by boundless blue waters and the vastness of the sea.
