As far as sticks go, Blanca subscribes to the motto: The bigger the better! With considerable effort she dragged this huge branch out of the water (see photo in first comment) and up onto the dune. Quite an impressive feat ... but she forgot one thing: Her mom cannot throw that stick for her!! LOL!
Going up, I hope the weather holds for them whilst the new roof is constructed!

Hello there! I hope all is well my friends! Happy Humpday! I am here featuring Ayla. with this new bedroom set called Loft Bedroom which is new to the Shiny Shabby Event! This set is really gorgeous. A male Crimson Sunbird (Aethopyga siparaja) was scanning for the small insects in an early morning between bushes and network of branches. I was chasing this agile beauty for long and finally got it for a moment in a relatively open area. The beauty of the red colour and the two purple dazzling colour stripes in neck made that noticeable from a distance. Finally managed it in poor light. Pics was taken from Mahananda Wildlife Sanctuary in West Bengal, India.
Cattle Egret / Kuhreiher (Bubulcus ibis)
I couldn't help but smile when I watched this ambitious Cattle Egret struggle to balance across my eye-line with an enormous stick!
The beaver markings were fresh, so I'm sure our presence annoyed them. Maybe next year we'll have a better view of the pond.

A grey heron attempting to swallow a large (1 kg plus) perch at Burton Mere Wetlands RSPB reserve. I'm pretty sure the fish was dead, but am less sure as to whether the heron killed it or found it.
I watched it for a while during which it made several attempts to fit in the fish, none of which were successful.

Henry Standing Bear, Chief of the Lakota in 1939, commissioned Korczak Ziolkowski to design and build a monument to the legendary Ogalala Lakota war leader and chief, Crazy Horse.
Ziolkowski was an accomplished sculptor and artist who was hired by Gutzon Borglum to assist on the Mount Rushmore Memorial. Unfortunately, he and the primary assistant on that project - Lincoln Borglum (Gutzon's son), were unable to work together and ZIolkowski was eventually fired.
The Lakota were unhappy about the use of tribal lands to build a monument to the Great American Presidents - white men, and Henry Standing Bear wanted to ensure that white Americans would know that Native Americans had "great heroes, too." This sculpture is massive, and when completed will be the largest in the world - though when that will be is anyone's guess. Ziolkowski and his family were adamant in their refusal to accept government funding and rely strictly on donations to fund their work.
As it stands today, Crazy Horse's head is so large that all four heads on Mount Rushmore fit in it. A memorial this size is inevitably surrounded in controversy - the descendants of Crazy Horse think it's a desecration of tribal burial grounds and contrary to Native beliefs on their relationship with the land; the project is nowhere near finished and will most likely keep going beyond the next generation of the Ziolkowski family. In any case, the ambition and dedication shown by Korczak Ziolkowski and his family in sculpting this monument is as impressive to me as the product in the making.
