DXDT Racing Mercedes AMG GT3 ripping through the Inner Loop.

Flying Lizard Motorsport with a different livery design. Traditionally, it has been red and silver. Not sure if this was a one-off design for this event.
Used a 6-stop ND filter here to keep the aperture as wide open as I could to try and eliminate the fencing that was about 20’ in front of me. I could’ve gotten 10’ closer to the fence but my step stool isn’t tall enough (goes down in a little gulley) to be perpendicular to the car for this shot. So I’m back off on top of the little hill. Seemed to work though 2.8 would’ve been better. Any faster a shutter speed to get 2.8 would’ve shown too much of the fencing.
Finally having a chance to start editing photos from a myriad of events over the past month using a rented EOS R5. I was also able to rent the 100-500mm but will initially be focusing on what the 800mm has to offer on this camera. Thoughts and impressions welcomed.

Was able to find a different place to stand than previous events... and away from spectators on the fence, and try some panning of the exit turn of the boot. Definitely a good 'social distance' lens.

Testing the good old 100-400 on the R5 to see how it compares to the 100-500. Outside of it being 100mm less reach, I find the quality to be the same in terms of sharpness and AF response.

Fantastic lighting conditions as the clouds broke. Really would love a late September, early October race here.
Shot through the gap at the base of the Esses as the Bimmer was beginning the ascent.

Heavy rains the night before made it uncertain as it was cloudy upon arrival at the track but the clouds parted just as the cars hit the track in the first session of the day.

Impressed that I not only was able to get this through the fence pretty clean, but to also be able to reach the entry to the Inner Loop here. Granted, early morning and cool fall temps helped as there was no thermal activity radiating yet but still... kind of ridiculous when I compare to previous outings and gear used.

One of many challenge areas to shoot from as a spectator, due to the fencing and the distance to the fence, through it, and to the subject. Aside from some bokeh highlights from the sun hitting the fencing, I think it did a decent job cutting through.

Best place to get some nice head-on shots. Given the longer length with this lens, it did allow me to maneuver around to find a backdrop that was void of any sponsors advertisements. Only had to dodge a few media photographers.

Corner worker in 5a enthusiastically looking at the Aston running through the Inner Loop. Reaching all the way across the Inner Loop here. This lens was atrocious on the EOS-R when I was here in June but really worked like a champ on the R5.

Like the Warby Parker store, this is in a club that only has four members: NY, Berlin, London, SF. It's a startup support system or something for AWS, anyhow their site is full of this kind of thing:
"Limited to twenty participants, these full-day bootcamps include hands-on lab exercises using a live environment with the AWS console."
"we’re here to help with the AWS foundational questions and the highly technical ones tied to your specific use case. So, bring your questions about AWS architecture..."
