Big Paws Big Teeth Kennedy & Big Ears Long Tongue K2 After Mutual Chase Playtime - IMRAN™

These German Shepherd Dogs seem to know when the camera is on them. They believe that size matters.

Kennedy the rescue with his big teeth, big smile, and big paws - who didn’t fully grow to his full potential but is very strong. A well-tamed beast with a ferocious spirit ready to display if pushed too far. But as everyone who’s met him knows, Kennedy is the sweetest and gentlest dog with humans, other animals, and especially young ones — whether a baby bird, puppy, or human infant in a stroller.

K2 the 10 months old puppy with his big ears, long tongue, unending energy - who is already taller than the older dog. He loves learning from Kennedy though constantly bugging him to play and challenging him on the Alpha factor. He can fight back any bigger dog but seems to acknowledge in many ways that, while he could put up a big fight being taller and younger, Kennedy is the true alpha among them.

Both big dogs with their always displayed big grins, big pink tongues, and big pink, well, you know what. Always ready for.... a portrait... and yes THAT too. 😄

The Alpha Male of the Lupine Pack leads two other Gray Wolves (Canis lupus) up and over a snow covered ridge after napping most of the day.

This wolf was staying away from the pack and its intensity. An amazing afternoon with the wolves. Photographed at Parc Oméga, Montebello, Québec, Canada.

am trying a new technique to photo my little friends... will need to perfect, but looks like it has some promise.

I don't know who this is: Ken ? Probably one of Elon Musk's high status males after guzzling a few portions of steroids. "Hyeurgh, hyeurgh, I'm a alpha male, me, I am..." He's dominating and bossing all around him, in his alpha-high-statusness and not in any way at all a piece of plastic garbage washed up on the north bank of the River Thames, soon to become part of the plastic nuisance in our seas.

I took this photo of a male Ruby-throated hummingbird a few years back. Every year, I am amazed at the beauty and skill of these awesome creatures. This little guy was definitely the alpha male around my feeders. His gorget was the most stunning red of any I've ever seen when facing the bird straight on. When turned to the side, the color shifted to more of a blackish to burgundy color. For this photo, I set up two speedlite flashes in an attempt to freeze the action. Those are two of the reflected lights in his eyes. The third was from the sun reflecting off the side glass of my car window. There is a slight blur in the bird's tail, but that is about the best I could do. The freezing of the wings almost makes the hummer look superimposed against the backdrop (riverbirch tree), but with my feeble editing skills, I can assure you that isn't the case. ;o) As always, thank you for viewing and have a great day!

We just returned from a mini-vacation to the Redwoods in Northern California where we were fortunate to stay near a herd of Elk in the rutting season.

We've come up here for the last few years and it looks to me as though this is the new Alpha male. Last year's had an injured eye and looked more scuffed up while this one looks younger with no injuries.

"Outmoded notion of the alpha wolf

The concept of the alpha wolf is well ingrained in the popular wolf literature at least partly because of my book "The Wolf: Ecology and Behavior of an Endangered Species," written in 1968, published in 1970, republished in paperback in 1981, and currently still in print, despite my numerous pleas to the publisher to stop publishing it. Although most of the book's info is still accurate, much is outdated. We have learned more about wolves in the last 40 years then in all of previous history."..."One of the outdated pieces of information is the concept of the alpha wolf. "Alpha" implies competing with others and becoming top dog by winning a contest or battle. However, most wolves who lead packs achieved their position simply by mating and producing pups, which then became their pack. In other words they are merely breeders, or parents, and that's all we call them today, the "breeding male," "breeding female," or "male parent," "female parent," or the "adult male" or "adult female." In the rare packs that include more than one breeding animal, the "dominant breeder" can be called that, and any breeding daughter can be called a "subordinate breeder."

He has researched wolves since 1958 in places such as Minnesota, Ellesmere Island, Canada, Italy, Alaska, Yellowstone National Park, and on Isle Royale. This week is Orangutan Awareness Week. Established in 1971 Camp Leakey in Borneo was created as a sanctuary to save the orangutan population in that part of Indonesia.

Since that time they have saved many orangutans who found themselves without a home when the palm oil industry continually cut down their rain forest. Now there is an intense fire raging through the area making it almost unfit for any living thing to survive.

The Government of Indonesia has caved in when dealing with the industry because of financial gain so the pillaging continues. Camp Leakey would welcome donations so they can continue to provide a safe environment for especially the very young orangutans who have been left without mothers. I have visited the camp and was impressed with their work. Several documentaries have focused on their efforts as well. Of course, the easiest thing to do is to stop buying any product with palm oil in it! alj.am/2y7g The previous link is to an article explaining how the palm oil industry is devastating the region!

Thank you Julius for this link!!! www.orangutan.org.uk/current-news/events/434-orangutan-aw

This article shows next week as the week set aside in the UK. The notice sent out by the camp in Indonesia shows the week beginning on November 1.
