Japan's largest airline, All Nippon Airways has been operating flights into London for decades, beginning flights into London Heathrow in 1989 as 3 years before underwent a massive international expansion to compete against Japan's flag-carrier, Japan Airlines.
All Nippon Airways began utilising Boeing 777-300ER's between London Heathrow and Tokyo-Narita in time for the W07 schedule, replacing the Boeing 747-400's. At the time since taking over, ANA just had 7 of the type in service but was expected to grow.
Since then, there has been plenty of changes (and there are rumours of a 2nd flight in the pipeline), in 2014 saw ANA shift its daily London Heathrow flights serving the much closer and more convenient Tokyo-Haneda rather than Tokyo-Narita which they had operated from since day one. Competitor, Japan Airlines also shifted its operations from Tokyo-Narita to Tokyo-Haneda for its daily London Heathrow flight.
A minor change occurred in 2015 when ANA announced flight number changes, the S15 schedule saw the daily London Heathrow flight going to NH211/212 instead of NH277/278.
For years, the daily London Heathrow flight have been in the hands of ANA's low-density and premium heavy Boeing 777-300ER's. However; there have been 3 separate occasions where ANA have placed Boeing 777-300ER's which are less premium heavy. It should be noted that ANA operates 3 cabin versions for its Boeing 777-300ER fleet; premium heavy with a small Economy section, a high-density layout with 10-abreast Economy seats and a medium premium heavy layout.
London Heathrow usually sees the low-density Boeing 777-300ER's which are more commonly found operating from Tokyo-Haneda, however the medium heavy versions have made appearances as they are rotated from trans-pacific flights. ANA is in the process of transferring some flights from the United States into Tokyo-Haneda rather than Narita. These versions which are less common at Heathrow operate from both Tokyo-Haneda and Tokyo-Narita.
Currently, All Nippon Airways operates 52 Boeing 777's, which includes 11 Boeing 777-200's, 12 Boeing 777-200ER's, 7 Boeing 777-300's and 22 Boeing 777-300ER's. ANA currently have 6 Boeing 777-300ER's and 20 Boeing 777-9's on-order.
