Japan's airline industry is amongst the most well-known in the world, the majority of people who travel around Japan use air travel to get from A-to-B. Japan's two main airlines are All Nippon Airways which is the largest, and Japan Airlines is the flag-carrier.
All Nippon Airways operates a single daily flight between London Heathrow and Tokyo-Haneda. Previously, ANA and Japan Airlines (JAL) operated into Tokyo-Narita from London Heathrow. Since 2010, Tokyo-Haneda opened its 4th runway along with a brand new international terminal, allowing airlines to operate international long-haul flights since 1978.
On 30th March 2015, both All Nippon Airways and Japan Airlines began operating into London Heathrow from Tokyo-Haneda. Tokyo-Haneda is a more convenient airport compared to Tokyo-Narita, owing to Haneda being in much closer proximity to the city of Tokyo.
A further change for ANA, on 29th March 2015, the airline announced a number of flight number changes to a select number of routes. Previously, ANA's London Heathrow flights were NH277/278... After 29th March 2015, ANA's London Heathrow flights became NH211/212. ANA usually operates low-density Boeing 777-300ER's which are known to be based at Haneda than Narita.
ANA operates a large number of long-haul flights from both Tokyo-Haneda and Tokyo-Narita Airport, however more international flights are due to transfer over to Haneda as more slots into the airport become available.
Currently, ANA operates a large fleet of 55 Boeing 777's, which includes 14 Boeing 777-200's (originally 16, 2 examples have since been withdrawn in 2016), 12 Boeing 777-200ER's, 7 Boeing 777-300's and 22 Boeing 777-300ER's. All Nippon Airways have 6 Boeing 777-300ER's and 20 Boeing 777-9's on-order.
