You will have to bear with me, I feel this photo is one of the best I've ever captured so I need to talk you all through it. Sorry in advance.
This was the best photo of about twenty photos with basically the same view, with slight variations in the composition and filtering. I had gone out to Bosham to catch the sunset knowing that the shot from this location would be about the only decent angle available yet I almost missed out on it all. I had wondered onto the quay that the village is centred around just on the chance there was another shot to capture, but as the sun was setting there was absolutely nothing to capture. I had a horrible feeling I was going to miss out big time. As it was, the car park fees went up to 7pm instead of 6pm as I expected, so I had had to overpay due to lack of change and I was starting to begrudge that extra 50p bitterly (tightwad, aren't I).
Basically I cut and ran. I headed for the end of the harbour that I had originally planned for, with an anxious and constant eye over my shoulder at the rapidly setting sun. The tide was high enough that water was starting to creep to the back corners. At low tide the basin is a mass of mud and slimy weeds, not very photogenic. As I reached the back, I found a little jetty sticking three feet out into the harbour that was perfect. I set up my tripod and had my bag open, trying my different lenses out to get the composition I wanted. This was actually taken with my 50mm prime f1.8, something I normally use more for people shots. Regardless of the lens I was having horrible problems with lens flare as I was pointing directly at the sun, but as soon as the sun set behind the town, magic started to happen. The sky started to take on these wonderful colours that were perfectly mirrored in the harbour. The water in front of me was still shallow enough not to ripple so it held the reflections of the silhouettes wonderfully. This shot was taken just down to the side of the jetty from an angle close to the water and you can follow the direction the water is taking as the tide creeps up. The only downside about this photo is that Mr Swan who had sat there all sunset, tucked his head under his wings for this shot. I used a ND8 filter as well as a ND8 grad.
Enough ranting. I hope this photo comes out as vibrantly on Flickr as it does on my computer, as it looks great in Lightroom, and I hope you enjoy this as much as I do. I'm pretty sure this will be my last photo before I set off to Devon so I trust that all of you that have managed to plod through this have a pleasant week and I will catch up with you all on my return.

The title says it all, Sunset!
Minimal processing but HDR none-the-less. I was surprised that the sun was as prominent as it was because of the short focal length. I like it!!
