I often wander around old cemeteries when I come across them and no exception was made when visiting the Primitive Baptist Church in Cades Cove. Looking at the grave sites of so many young people, babies actually, only drove home how hard life was in the early to mid 18th century. The hardships our ancestors endured should never ever be taken for granted.
Photo was made with my Mamiya C220 and Kodak xt400 film.

Calotip mètode Pélegry modificat (mel en comptes de xerigot), en format 18x24 cm.; paper Canson Marker; 3 min. d'exposició aprox.; EV 13.5; paper ioditzat el maig de 2024. Revelat amb acid gal·lic i acetonitrat de plata durant 32 minuts, compensant amb acid acetic (canviant el revelador a mig per degradació del mateix).
Càmera Unger & Hoffmann, en format 18x24 cm., fabricada cap al 1920; objectiu combinable Trousse Parisienne (probablement fabricat per DeMaria) en format 200mm de profunditat de camp, d'entorn 1900.
Vista de la ruina de la antiga fàbrica Vives i Figueres, també coneguda com Els Polvorers, perquè hi havia anteriorment una fàbrica de polvora. Actualment, tot i estar catalogat, tot està en ruines per el saqueig constant de l'estructura. Una mostra més de degradació del patrimoni.

Calotype (modified Pélegry, with honey instead of whey); Canson Marker paper; 3 min. exposure aprox., EV 13,5. Developed with gallic acid and acetonitrate of silver for 32 minutes, adding a bit of acetic acid (and even changing degraded developer).
Unger & Hoffmann 18x24 large format camera, made c.1920; brass Trousse Parisienne (probably DeMaria) combine lens, in 200mm setting, made c.1900.
The ruins of the former textile factory known as Vives i Figueres, south of Manresa. It's also known as Els Polvorers, because earlier this place was a gunpowder factory. But now all is abandoned and ruined, even being a protected building. There's so much disregard for our heritage.
Big machinery for Big jobs now lies abandoned in this Big factory.

In 1982, InnerConn Technology, a manufacturer of circuit boards for computers and watches, announced plans relocate its operations to Casa Grande. But the the company defaulted on its construction loan before completion and the full series of domes was never completed. The property has been abandoned since.⠀

The Casa Grande Dispatch, which covered the construction in the 80s and has followed the story to the present day, described the construction process similarly to an "upside down swimming pool, with the concrete formed around a big balloon. They were then covered with a spray foam."⠀

It's said that InnerConn Technology intended to get into the dome building business. The company reportedly formed a subsidiary, Dome Industrial Homebuilders Inc. for the venture. Low-cost, rapid construction, and high heat efficiency/insulation were identified as key qualities of the domes and their unique construction process.⠀

In 2017 the Casa Grande Dispatch reported the property owner was ordered to demolish the domes. Who knows how much longer they will stand.⠀
