Now that you viewed the image as the introduction to the 'Eight days a week' ilustrated article - (see previous upload), you will realise 'Rail' produced the image back to front - a cardinal sin in my view and no excuses either. Anyway, here is the original image, correct way of course in all its glory. For the record in coal sector markings, Class 60, No 60061 'Alexander Graham Bell' draws slowly forward as being loaded with coal and forms 6T98 19.05hrs to Fidlers Ferry Power Station at the 'new' Liverpool Bulk Terminal. 10th August 1993.

This was a good day for visiting museums and going to
a Celtic Colours concert, as this was a rainy day. The stop in the charming town of Baddeck was fascinating for us and historically important to us, because we didn't know a lot about Alexander Graham Bell's contributions, his interesting life, and his connection to Canada. We ended the day in Sydney on a perfect note by attending a performance, one of the Celtic Colours shows, tickets we were lucky enough to secure the night before - we got the last two seats! We were treated to performances by local and international artists.
Inventor, Alexander Graham Bell born Alexander Bell, March 3, 1847 – August 2, 1922 was a Scottish-born inventor, scientist, and engineer who is credited with inventing and patenting the first practical telephone. He also co-founded the American Telephone and Telegraph Company (AT&T) in 1885.
Bell's father, grandfather, and brother had all been associated with work on elocution and speech and both his mother and wife were deaf; profoundly influencing Bell's life's work. His research on hearing and speech further led him to experiment with hearing devices which eventually culminated in Bell being awarded the first U.S. patent for the telephone, on March 7, 1876. Bell considered his invention an intrusion on his real work as a scientist and refused to have a telephone in his study.
Many other inventions marked Bell's later life, including groundbreaking work in optical telecommunications, hydrofoils, and aeronautics. Although Bell was not one of the 33 founders of the National Geographic Society, he had a strong influence on the magazine while serving as the second president from January 7, 1898, until 1903.
Beyond his work in engineering, Bell had a deep interest in the emerging science of heredity.

The British public telephone kiosk was the first in the world. It was introduced in 1884, only eight years after the invention of the telephone itself by the Scotsman Alexander Graham Bell. The "public call office", as it was initially known, was a typical Victorian innovation, using new technology to make money from an increasingly mobile, communications-driven society, (things never change)
Yes, it's like the dark ages with dial up being the only available connection to the internet. slow slow slow... when I want to go fast fast fast.
As I do enjoy those glitter graphics, I'd ask that folks not put them into comments, as the dial up connection chokes with the extra bytes.
~also~
I'd like to say thanks - I have the best Flickr friends... :-)
All of your comments, invites and faves mean so much to me.

During the Trainload Coal 'Motive Power Day' event that included a series of return special passenger service along the North Wales coast, a brace of Class 60 locomotives were employed on a return working to Llandudno. The 1T60 14:30 Crewe to Llandudno was recorded near Mostyn with 60061 'Alexander Graham Bell' and 60044 'Ailsa Craig' at the business end. In the background was the former British Railways steam passenger ship TSS Duke of Lancaster (1956) that had been berthed at Llanerch-y-Mar since August 1979 and for a number of years used as 'The Fun Ship', a popular tourist attraction. Lewis Howard Latimer, 1848-1928
African American inventor and patent draftsman. He worked with Alexander Graham Bell and Thomas Edison and invented a modification to the process for making carbon filaments aimed to reduce breakages. While at Edison, Latimer wrote the first book on electric lighting.
As a son of parents who escaped slavery, he had a long and impressive career.

Tom Eckersley (1914 - 1997) was one of the foremost design practitioners and teachers during the 20th century. In the 1930s he worked jointly with Eric Lombers but the partnership did not survive the outbreak of war. This cover is from a booklet issued by the GPO, then responsible for telecomminications as well as the mail, and was to celebrate the centenary of the birth of Alexander Graham Bell in Edinburgh, the man regarded as the 'father' of the telephone - although there was at the time, in 1876, and still, there is some debate as to the role played by Elisha Grey. Bell was at work in the US at the time of his work and he and his family went on to found that doyen of telephone companies, Bell, later to become AT&T. In the UK the telephone network was consolidated into the ownership of the Post Office who by 1911 had a virtual monopoly of the network - the last municipal systems to hold out being Portsmouth (that transferred in 1913) and Hull that continued to operate its "Telephone Department" until the age of privatisation. Anyhow, the booklet cover shows a profile of the bearded Bell with a contemporary handset and the inventor's first machine.

An extract from Wikipedia: "The invention of the telephone is the culmination of work done by many individuals, the history of which involves a collection of claims and counterclaims. The development of the modern electrical telephone involved an array of lawsuits founded upon the patent claims of several individuals and numerous companies. This article covers the early years from 1844 to 1898, from conception of the idea of an electric voice-transmission device, to failed attempts to use "make-and-break" current, to successful experiments with electromagnetic telephones by Alexander Graham Bell and Thomas Watson, and finally to commercially successful telephones in the late 19th century."

Sarah Fuller (1836-1927) was a pioneer in the education of hearing impaired children. A respected young Boston teacher who was considered to have a gift with children, she was chosen to become the first principal of the Boston School for Deaf-Mutes in 1869. This institution changed its name to the Horace Mann School for the Deaf in 1877, and she was to remain at its helm for 41 years until her retirement in 1910.
In her early years at the school she worked closely with Alexander Graham Bell in learning and applying his father's methods of teaching speech to the deaf. It was during this period that Bell was also at work on the development of the telephone, and he received some much needed support from Miss Fuller, who helped him keep his accounts and introduced him to relevant members of the American scientific community. In 1890 Miss Fuller applied the methods she learned and developed from Bell in giving the first speech lessons to a young blind and deaf girl - the later famous Helen Keller.
Sarah Fuller remained active in her retirement, and lived to a grand old age, passing away in her 92nd year.

Twenty years ago the newly introduced class 60 locomotives were busy with coal trains to Fiddlers Ferry power station, something that has stayed consistent since. However back then the coal came from the Lancashire coalfield pits of Bickershaw and Parkside wheras now its imported and starts its journey by Brush from Liverpool bulk terminal.
September 1991 sees coal sector liveried 60061 'Alexander Graham Bell' head for Fiddlers at Warrington Arpley low level with a train formed of HAA hopper wagons full of black stuff from Lancashire.
