Hollyhock
Common names include ball rose, flier, farmer's rose and marshmallow, although the latter name is misleading, because marshmallow is the name of another plant from the mallow family.
The Hollyhock originally comes from Turkey or Palestine and was imported to Europe in the 16th century.
a beautiful flower relaxes the sight of the mind and gives joy to those who receive it; a wild flower born with strength and made its way through the common herbs to give us joy ...

At the roadsides it stands next to the blue chicory. While driving by I thought for a long time it were a pale purple colored chicory, how wrong I was.

It rained most of today but now we have overcast skies and some sunshine. Pink hollyhocks are so delightful!
"Alcea is a genus of over 80 species of flowering plants in the mallow family Malvaceae, commonly known as the hollyhocks. They are native to Asia and Europe. The single species of hollyhock from the Americas, the streambank wild hollyhock, belongs to a different genus." - Wikipedia
First of all, hollyhocks are a short lived perennial. This means that most varieties will only live two to three years. Their lifespan can be extended some by removing growing hollyhock flowers as soon as they fade." Best seen large by clicking on the photo.
Thanks for visiting, I appreciate you.
Don't look for the focus. It's the end of the sharpness. A lens combination of a small tele, a close up lens and a wide angel converter privides always soft pictures....and a great bokeh.....dependend on your eyes.

These Hollyhocks, (Alcea Rosea) have really been enjoying the hot spring, and early summer that we've had this year.
Often seen in English cottage gardens, they are tall and very colourful.
They have grown much taller this year? 1.5m. And given an impressive splash of colour.
